Subject: Lyr Req: Lady and me, Me and my Guitar From: GUEST,MojosBigStick Date: 23 Apr 12 - 03:59 PM Could be "Baby and me, me and my guitar", my memory's not what it was, but that's the last line of the chorus. It's a gentle ballad, on-the-road style, a man who wants no more of dishonest women, just him and his guitar. The song has to be at least 25 years old, and I cannot find it on the internet anywhere. I also can't beleive my Dad actually wrote it (sorry Dad!), so someone else must know it. Thanks for your help, Mojo |
Subject: Lyr Add: YOU AND MY OLD GUITAR (Jimmie Rodgers) From: PHJim Date: 24 Apr 12 - 12:26 AM Probably not the one you want, but this old Jimmie Rodgers tune came into my head when I read your post. I could never be lonely; I could never be blue, As I go through life if only I'd have my guitar and you. Why should I ever worry? Why should I feel sad? We travel along in a hurry, sharing the good and bad. Whenever I'm up, you're near me, giving me happiness, And when I'm down, you cheer me; nothing is better than this. [yodel] Here we go, just we three; oh, how happy we will be! I'll hook my ladder to a silver star and climb with you and my old guitar. [yodel] Over the land we wander, buds(?) here and there, But I never stop to ponder if the clouds are dark or fair. In a one-horse town or city, no matter where we are, I'm happy if I have with me you and my old guitar. We'll travel the roads together, leading to lands afar, Singing in all kinds of weather, and strumming my old guitar. [yodel] |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lady and me, Me and my Guitar From: GUEST Date: 24 Apr 12 - 02:02 AM Thanks, that is a lovely song. And the man gets both the guitar and the woman - a happy ending indeed! I remembered a few more lyrics in the shower this morning (as you do!) "Lady and me we had a real good time, Travelling from coast to coast. Made a lot of friends along the way. Maybe we had more than most..." That's the complete first half of a verse, but Google still won't find it. It's driving me nuts! Mojo. |
