Subject: Lyr Req: Childless Cat Ladies (Fink/Marxer) From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Oct 24 - 02:07 AM Here's a new song written by Cathy Fink and Tom Paxton, performed by Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer. Would anybody like to post a transcription? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASZafPnU8GQ |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Childless Cat Ladies (Fink/Marxer) From: NightWing Date: 24 Oct 24 - 03:22 PM CHILDLESS CAT LADIES Any help with the two lines I can't get?
In the second verse, I'm hearing "we'll sip on tuna and soy". I doubt that's it.
In the fourth verse, I get "It's cat lovers allergies riddled with thanks". Again, I'm fairly sure that'w not right.

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Childless Cat Ladies (Fink/Marxer) From: NightWing Date: 24 Oct 24 - 09:11 PM Your phrasing would be more accurate if you said, "occasionally it is even fairly accurate": not that often. And what makes you think I did not? That's where I got about 90% of the lyric I reported. However, to be fair to you I looked again. I think it's actually right in the fourth verse line: "It's a cat lover's elegy written with thanks". When I listened to it before, it did not seem to match the words and I couldn't turn "elogy" into a real word, but listening again--after a bit of time had passed--I figured it for "elegy" which does work. In the second verse, the transcript suggests "we spit on tuna and toys": complete nonsense! "Toys" might be right but spitting on either tuna or toys doesn't make sense in the lyric. The best I can hear, looking at the transcript, are ... We step on tuna and toys or We slip on tuna and toys ... neither of which a) makes sense in the lyric or b) sounds like what they're singing. So, try it yourself and tell us what you hear, rather than wasting our time with a suggestion I had already followed. BB, NightWing |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Childless Cat Ladies (Fink/Marxer) From: Gorgeous Gary Date: 28 Oct 24 - 10:01 PM After listening to it myself I am fairly certain the missing word in the 8th line is "spend". Thus making the line "And we spend on tuna and toys"...as someone who has been staff to cats that makes quite a bit of sense to me. |
