Subject: Tune Req: Cuckoo Song From: MudGuard Date: 25 Jun 04 - 12:34 PM I am looking for a tune called "Cuckoo Song". I have it recorded by Mike Oldfield on his "the complete Mike Oldfield" double CD from 1985 - there it says "traditional". I did not find the tune on the Digitrad or in the forum, also no results on the ABC tune finder (there are some titles containing the word "Cuckoo" - but none of them is the one I am looking for). The tune sounds (in parts) like a (big surprise!) cuckoo calling... Unfortunately I am very very untalented in writing down music from listening to it - so I'd be very glad if someone could provide it (ABC will do) Thanks in advance. Andy a/k/a MudGuard |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Cuckoo Song From: MudGuard Date: 25 Jun 04 - 02:16 PM Thanks so far! masato, I found "Parson's Farewell" on ABC tunefinder, it is similar but not quite the tune... Q, your link does not work. I do not know whether the "song" has any lyrics, the Mike Oldfield version is instrumental... |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Cuckoo Song From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 25 Jun 04 - 11:00 PM It's certainly the Praetorius tune (the "b" part is a dead giveaway), though evidently Mike Oldfield recorded something that sounded a little different from the notation presently available to Andy. I haven't heard Oldfield's arrangement in years, so can't be more specific. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Cuckoo Song From: MudGuard Date: 26 Jun 04 - 10:59 AM Yes, Malcolm, the b part is very similar, but the rest doesn't fit at all... |
