Subject: RE: Scots Songsmith From: GUEST Date: 19 Jul 22 - 08:27 AM He was a serious man. Talked about history as if he was there himself. No he didn’t perform. He was of a different time. |

Subject: RE: Scots Songsmith From: An Buachaill Caol Dubh Date: 21 Jul 22 - 10:27 PM "The Gartan Mother's Lullaby" is by Seosamh Mac Cathmhaoil/Joseph Campbell, early C20th and to an air collected by Herbert Hughes, I would assume in County Donegal. Lough Gartan is traditionally said to be the birthplace of St. Colmcille/Columba. |

Subject: RE: Info: Scots Songsmith George Weir from Peebles From: GUEST Date: 19 Sep 25 - 05:35 PM George had a bakers van . He came up from Peebles to our house at Moorfoot twice a week. My Mum & Dad were great friends with him & once when we were visiting him in Peebles The Corries were at his house. He also taught my sister yo play guitar. Lovely friendly man. I'm sure he also wrote The lyrics to the Black Douglas Brian Ritchie |
