Subject: RE: BS: Watching paint dry. From: number 6 Date: 15 Jun 06 - 12:00 PM Oh, there's twenty thousand grandmas Wave their hankies in the air All burning up their pensions And shouting, "It's not fair!" There's a regiment of soldiers Standing looking on And the queen is bravely shouting "What the hell is going on?" With a blood-curdling "tally-ho" She charged into the ranks And blessed all those grandmas Who weith their dying breaths screamed, "Thanks!" Me, I'm waiting so patiently Lying on the floor I'm just trying to do this jigsaw puzzle Before it rains anymore sIx |

Subject: RE: BS: Watching paint dry. From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 15 Jun 06 - 08:31 PM Actually you used to be able to buy DRY PAINT. It was called 'water paint' or 'casein paint' and came as a dry powder to which you added water. |

Subject: RE: BS: Watching paint dry. From: Little Hawk Date: 15 Jun 06 - 09:19 PM "Jigsaw Puzzle" was a case of the Stones trying to write lyrics that sounded like Dylan. He had quite a big influence on them, and they on him too, albeit probably to a lesser extent. There's a neat video of the Stones performing "Like A Rolling Stone", and Mick does a good job on it. |

But this ol' river keeps on rollin', though, No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow, And as long as it does I'll just sit here And watch the river flow. ...... B. Dylan sIx |

Subject: RE: BS: Watching paint dry. From: GUEST,Mingulayat work Date: 16 Jun 06 - 06:06 AM Do I sense a song lyric thread creep?? Subject: RE: BS: Watching paint dry. From: Charley Noble Date: 16 Jun 06 - 10:54 PM Michael- Thanks for the correction. Allan Sherman it is. I beieve he also composed "My Son the Folksinger." As a nautical feller, I'm used to calling the rope one uses to tie up the boat "the painter." I'm not sure why it's called that or why other ropes are called "sheets." Sailors are just weird fellers.
