Barbara, at the top of your screen, where it says "Address", just backspace/erase to mudcat.org/ and type in after it "chat/irc.cfm"

Just wandered in, and it was logging me in twice! While I do enjoy talking with myself, it's a potential problem if there are only 5 people allowed in. However, it's always fun holding whisper conversations with one's self...

I've been trying to get myself in once at a time but can't, Sean, what's your trick to getting in twice. I get the header part of the page but nothing else comes up & I go away talking to myself. Can anyone explain it to me. Barry

Catspaw, Barry:

Try going to it, independent of the Mudcat. When you open up your IE, backspace your address at the top to www.mudcat.org THEN type in : /chat/irc.cfm

and hit enter. Hopefully that will work. Kinda bypasses the threads, personal pages, and all, I think!

When that happens to me, getting the header only, I simply hit RELOAD on my browsers command line and it usually gets me in.

Thanks katlaughing & banjer, tried both of those hints before after reading some of the above posts & just tried again, still get just the header on the opening page & can't get any further. Any other tricks or explanations, anyone? Barry

Oh, Skarpi! I know the feeling. Have you joined Mudcat? When you do this, some information goes on your computer's hard drive so that when you enter the room, this information can be accessed. I'm talking to myselves in the chat room as I write this--hard to do, but I've done stranger things. ... Teresa

I've been using it on a regular basis with Internet Explorer. I've met a fine cast in there, including Big Mick, Catspaw, and several others. Yes, even today, it was working.

Hi, Alice. The link Max posted at the beginning of this thread still works. It loads kind of slow to start, but works very well for me. I just finished a nice chat with Big Mick.

It looks like you have a Java error Alice. You can get to the Mudcat chat room with any IRC complient program (I use mIRC). The host is www.mudcat.org and the port number is 6667.

Sean, all you have to do to go there is go to the top of your browser where it says Address and type in the following:

Well, gosh SeanM! Word association and the alphabet work fer me! If you remember the one for the cat, then that you want to "chat", then the "irc" comes before the "cfm" which is backwards alphabetically, and there ya go. Only chat, slash, irc, dot, cfm! ReallY, it works!::--)))ole foureyes

A while ago it was suggested that we enter the room around the start of each hour. Still sounds good to me!
