Does your town or city have an official song? If it does...can it beat this?

The official song of Schenectadyis "Our Schenectady," composed by John Van Laak and sung by Judi Merriam. Adopted by Schenectady City Council Jan. 30, 1995:

Our Schenectady

What a warm and friendly place it is to be

Nestled among plains and hills

With a beautiful river that always gives us thrills

And stores and shops with all that one might need or wish to see

And legends and tales and lots of history

Oh Schenectady

Our Schenectady

Let us now plan and help to make it grow

If we will all do our best

Then others can do the rest

For places to study and learn in

Places to work and earn in

Places to live in happiness

No, but we do have City Ordinance 8.48, which deals with illicit discharge.

Take your pick...but firearms are covered under a different law.

Hey, that's a pretty good song considering that it commemorates a city whose name sounds like a disease.

You have to go there to fully appreciate the name.

What, not "I Can't Spell Schenectady"?! This is an outrage.
I can spell Dakota,
Can handle Minnesota
But I can't spell Schenectady....

"I Can't Spell Schenectady" is a self-defeating sentence, because you obviously can spell it. It would be better to say "I can't spell skinecktiddy".

We have in the Library a song called "The Sweetheart Of Old Fort Hall."

No, it's not about THAT sort of "sweetheart." It's a romantic ballad of the "back in the days when we were traveling the Oregon Trail together" type.

The songwriter was from Pocatello.
