Subject: breeze shooting: '...as if nothing h...' From: MichaelAnthony Date: 23 Sep 00 - 03:40 AM Hello Mudcatters and Guests, I continue to ponder and digest Dirty's message. I'm finding myself leaning towards spreading the "Say a Prayer for Dirty" text about a little. I don't consider myself naive, and I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to keep in touch with me as to my whereabouts if I went ahead with the above. The more the merrier. I have family I keep in touch with, but I've been known to be out of contact for months at a time. So not hearing from me would not necessarily be abnormal. Of course it's not likely anything unusual would happen to me, but if anything occurred I'd like to be able to chat about it and not feel too isolated. MA |

Subject: RE: breeze shooting: '...as if nothing h...' From: bbelle Date: 23 Sep 00 - 10:42 AM MA - If you are out of touch with your family for months, would it not be the same with mudcatters?
I travel A LOT and mostly by auto. I let several people know when I'm embarking on a trip, including where I will be when, and telephone numbers. I also travel with a Sprint PCS phone (a little plug for my company
This past Spring, on my drive to Dallas from Tallahassee, Jed Marum called me three times ... to find out where I was and if all was okay. I took another trip, up North, in July. Almost every day, I received a call from a friend in Canada, just to see if I was okay.
But, if you don't want or cannot afford the expense of a wireless phone, another suggestion would be to purchase a prepaid long distance card. This way, you could call whomever, to check in.
Or maybe, after the long diatribe, what you're talking about is email. How would you go about this? Do you have a laptop? Would you access through public libraries?

Subject: RE: breeze shooting: '...as if nothing h...' From: MichaelAnthony Date: 23 Sep 00 - 04:40 PM Carol, I see that I wasn't clear about what I was asking. Now that I think about it it seems possible that correspondences such as email and phone calls could even work against my goal of staying safe myself and protecting Dirty. I had one idea -- I shared the text with the Southern Center for Human Rights. They were very very busy with trial cases when I stopped by and haven't heard from them yet. But having them aware of the text may provide some comfort for Dirty and anyone who may share this writing. And if the text was published as it is it seems like an appropriate place for people to send donations to. Of course, they may decide to have nothing to do with it. MA |
