I heard a hilarious song, sung by Pete Grasby at Bishops Castle Festival last week end about putting a dog in a microwave to dry it and its sequelae. Pete promised to send it to me , but he's probably lost my e-mail add. I know its not to everyones taste but as a dog lover I still found it nearly made me wet myself laughing. If anyone can forward me the name of its author and lyrics I will be extremely grateful. I want to sing it at a local function in a couple of weeks, along with some Kippers songs ( no fee ).

Not a dog song, but there's "Microwave Cat" HERE, with lyrics & sound.

well I never knew there was a folklore about this subject. The song was not the Kitty song, but the person who wrote the song I heard may well have seen this site, because the other scenario fits the bill.

I think Pete may have written it himself.

I guess I have to admit I have a love-hate relationship with our cats. I have decreed that this household may have no more than two inside cats and one outside. I wonder if my decree will be heeded.
Fat chance.
Anyhow, in honor (or dishonor) of our cats, I thought we should post the lyrics. And I humbly thank the cats for not dancing on my keyboard as I type this.

first verse-----
I had a little kitty
it meant a lot to me
I attempted to give it a bath
And dry it on the rotissary

chorus-----
don't put your kitty in the oven
if it's life you want to save
it will cook from the inside out
that's what they say about the microwave

oh, not a noise
not a peep or a meow
it puts its face to the window
and the kitty went kerplow

bridge-----
put your kitty in the oven
it will cook real soon
it will blow it will pop out
like a big balloon

I remember the incident, back in the 80's, I think, where an elderly woman had given her poodle a bath and had the bright idea of putting him in the microwave to dry him off. She then died of a heart attack when she saw what was left of him. I don't know if this is "Urban Legend" or true. But as an animal lover I just don't think the subject (or the songs) are very funny. I hate to think of that incident, if it was true.

Do NOT try this at home with your kitty or puppy!

(Banjo players-- well, that's another matter.)

my gran actually did it for real away back in the "olden days"...... they had one of those open fires with an oven beside it....... their little puppy was cold so the kids thought they'd help it warm up by putting it in the oven......

they didn't make the mistake with any of their other dogs.........
