FRIDAY 16th SEPT 2011
at HERMITAGE COMMUNITY MOORINGS, WAPPING E1W 1NG
Performers: Nigel Of Bermondsey, then open floor
7pm to about 10pm
Free

Sorry - I'm new here and not too sure how it all works, but I wanted to draw people's attention to a one-off session this Friday, 16th Sept. at Hermitage Moorings' floating community centre on the Thames, "The Pier House".
(Access through the gate and down the walkway onto the river - if it's low tide it can be steep)
Nigel of Bermondsey will be performing, then an open floor for singers and musicians - ideally we'll start, at least, with songs about Wapping and/or about the river. (Wapping Old Stairs, anyone?)
:-)

This Sunday night - Salinae Session at the Boars Head, Middlewich, Cheshire. CW10 0JE
8pm upstairs, all musicians, singers, songwriters, listeners welcome as always. Acoustic only! Guests welcome. Parking at the back or in the car park in front of the Kinderton Hotel next door. Boars Head is beside the traffic lights in town. Look forward to seeing you, and if the quiz is a bit loud downstairs or the quizmaster makes derogatory comments about folk music to anyone - feel free to poke him in the eye! Or better still invite him to join us!!
He was heard to comment last week that his tune to identify as part of the quiz was 'the best music you'll in this pub tonight!!'
We love a challenge - see you Sunday night!

Folking Live – South Hill Park – Cellar Bar

Thursday 24th November 2011

Ticket prices : £5

Folking Live welcomes Damian Clarke.
A man who has seen it and done it on the folk scene – his unique show brings to the fore lesser played folk instruments including the Hurdy Gurdy and Hammer Dulcimer. Along with striking traditional vocal style, expect folk songs pulled from many different areas – performed in an inimitable way.

I'll be supporting Pete Morton as he does his Chaucer show tomorrow in Gainsborough. Well, not "as", obviously, but a short time before. I understand that's the usual way with support spots.

Then on Saturday I'll be opening the evening concert and MCing at Kirkby Fleetham's Big Birthday Bash on the Saturday night: see separate thread.

Oh, and while I'm here anyway: tonight I'll be hosting the Berko Uke UkeThrash at The Three Horseshoes, Winkwell, Bourne End, Herts (betwixt Berko and Hemel).

The Roaring Forties will be performing "Icebound" at the Grimsby Folk Club on Sun 19 Feb. Icebound is the story of the whalers stuck in the ice of Baffin bay over the winter of 1836/7 .The presentation consists of 13 original songs interspersed with extracts from the ships' logs and the diaries of the crew. Not to be missed!   The second half of the evening will be a normal Roaring Forties set of seasongs and shanties...with plenty of chorus singing.

Just come across this thread for the first time so two thoughts
1) Unless it happens to be a thread in current vogue all this info is invisible
2) Most of it is up to a decade out of date!

I'm singing at The SOC Clubhouse Richmond North Yorkshire tonight 3/3/2012 but who will ever know from this thread.
Perhaps it could be the other way up. Last item first?

The diary is updated a couple of times a week, and you will also find a pretty complete directory of performers, including bands, morris sides, singers, teachers, and even folk clubs!
