can make all this trouble around the world , imagine what will
happen when Yellowstone goes up ...then we can forget flights

If what I hear about Yellowstone is true, we can forget about civilisation as we know it ;-(

I hope things aren't too bad for you out there.
Some "experts" are quoted as saying this could quite easily last for weeks. And if Katla decides to make it a duet....

there are no sign about Katla yet , and that is something to worry about
because the first eruption witch is nearer Katla than this one
just came up with no warning there where only small earthquakes
1 on the scale ...

an this may stop for one or two days but it will go up again ..
this mountain could go for a year ...or longer ..saigghhhs . .

where I live we are okei , I am getting mask , and something to
keep save water in ..so if the ash comes over us we will be ready .
all we need is that wind directions change .

In any case, aside from scaring the crap outta me... thank goodness!

BTW... be careful what you click on at Google re the volcano... I had an extremely scarey experience when I went looking for the latest when I read Jack's post....

I clicked on what appeared to be a map of the ash flow. Got a "Windows Security" alert that there were at least 8 viruses on my PC and gave me the option to delete immediately and an option to run the fix. I went straight to my ISP provided security and started a scan... when I tried to close the Google screen a warning came up saying my PC would crash... fact is, the "fix" was not signed by MS so I nixed the screen.

My ISP scan showed nothing. I ran a Quck Scan with Malwarebytes... nada... I am just now running a full scan with them... nothing yet. So, I assume contininuing with the BOGUS fix would have fixed me up the

no she have not yet any way . what people saw what that on a
mountain called Búrfell we have live camera pointed on Hekla mountain
but you can also see the eruption from the glacier over Hekla
mountain ....but yes Hekla ha gone over her time and see is
blowin out and its only matter of time when she goes of , but with
Hekla we have only 20 min if she goes up ....so I am not gonna hike
Hekla this year ..., Katla is ready also , but has not and I repeat
has not shown any sign that she goin up , so lets hope she will
sleep a little longer ...but she will go up ...its her time ..
Úfff and the ash is coming this way on Thursday ..so getting mask tomorrow ...and more save water :O)

Are all volcanoes female in Icelandic? Or any other language where word gender is more obvious than English?

yes they are all female

we Gjálp , Katla, Hekla , Askja those are all volcanos who are and will
go off sometimes

then we have : Grímsvötn in the biggest glacier
and lots of smaller volcanos who are still alive ...and waiting its time

and then its LAKI ...and he can be a big danger if that goes again .

Causing lots of problems.
Kenyan farmers can't send their produce- fruit, vegetables, flowers, to Europe, and Canadians can't ship their lobsters to Europe. Tough times, not just for airlines and passengers.

Thats why all nation should have plan B and C ..

We have Laki 1783 it was 150 times bigger than this one , the weather changed all over the world ..and they think that over 1.5 million people
died in the world because of it ..

The last full-scale Yellowstone eruption was some 650 million years ago.
The USGS and allied scientists "see no evidence of another catyclysmic eruption at Yellowstone in the forseeable future."

Heck, I live by Yellowstone. The Snake River plain and all of the previous hot spots spread across Idaho like a smile.

Assume the Yellowstone caldera blew. How would you go about stopping it? A cork? A fire extinguisher? Yellowstone blows and the WORLD suffers terribly.

But I can't be bothered to worry about something I can't do anything about. So I visit the park, watch the geysers and hot pools, and not worry.
