over 4 hours of surgery to put her back together, doc came out and said I never seen someone that sick and that elderly turn around so quick. They got the infection under control, the vials are now all stable. He said she is very sick but there is now no reason to think she won't make a full recovery ... he was amazed. He said he would have taken odd that she would not have made it to the first of the operations ... tough old girl for sure

I never doubt the power of prayer, I don't ... Here is a true story of recent. My close friend in Wisconsin is 69. He has a kidney from his brother as he had total kidney failure. His wife Carol last fall saw he was acting wierd. They ran some tests, He had the kidney failing and beyond that he had a massive inoperable tumor on the brain. After a lot of docs they said he will not make it to Thanksgiving. The frontal lobe of the brain is gone and the kidney is barely working. No chemo, no treatment even from the Mayo Clinic. We prayed no matter what happened we prayed for what will be will be. February of this year, in bed dying, no longer able to speak, he woke up, walked into his wife and asked "what is this all about" feeding tube , diapers. She freaked, back to the Mayo Clinic, docs were speechless, test after test, no tumor, brain healed, terminal cancer none, kidney function, perfect. The doc told his wife Carol, this is medically impossible, we ran every test in the book, the brain tissue once destroyed as he had is terminal and can't be reversed but there is no sign of anything, nothing wrong. I talked to him this weekend, he was back at the firehouse (volunteer fireman) having fun with the guys and mowing the grass. prayer, miracles, they do happen .. I swear to God this is an absolutely true story ... you can talk to him if you don't believe me. sometimes God says no, sometimes as with Lazerus he says yes. Jerry is a man like my mom of great faith. I said goodbye to him last fall, now I talk to him like I talk to you ... He is amazing .. like my mom

Dan,

Hardi's mom had a massive intestinal spill a few years ago when her appendix ruptured.... it got messy there... It was touch and go. Till I got on thyroid meds, tho, she was still tougher and had more stamina than I did, and is still going strong now several years later.

Healing may take a little longer than she will like, and it may be awhile before she has full strength, but at that age they are so powerful anyway that they usually take MY breath away.

TBTG you still have her, and just love the heck out of her every, every day that you can.

For sure Susan, I am so thankful that she had such a good doc also .. boy she is sick, it will take awhile for sure. Then again knowing my mom she may walk out next week. one time she was in her late 60's fell and broke two ribs. I took her to the er room ... yup broken ribs. Next day I caught her up a ladder cleaning windows ... the woman is no stop motion. Walks to the store to get her groceries. Loves to walk ... she is a tough old bird for sure ...

Green Jello .. that is a step up from my mom's cooking
When I tell someone, that is just the way my mom made it , it ain't a compliment. Cooking wasn't one of her great skills

I know what you mean about "Mom's cooking". My mother overcooked just about everything. Cauliflower, at her hands, became a bumpy paste, calves liver a one-toned leather, garden peas a mess of burst globules...

It was not really her fault. I found a 1924 cook book that said how long to cook things. Garden peas, for instance, it said to boil for 20 minutes!
