Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: robomatic Date: 15 Feb 18 - 02:59 PM Greg F.: LOL AM looking forward to your wheel and fire spiel. I agree that techno won't save the world. My point is that techno will enable us to flee the world and go find another one. Tickets to Alpha Centauri anyone? My references: A Canticle for Leibowitz or Heinlein's story Solution Unsatisfactory I don't insist you rub ideas together to that level, but I've heard the old 'plaints about spending money on space when children are starving in ____________ since Apollo days. Legitimate or not there's nothing 'new' there. |
Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: Greg F. Date: 15 Feb 18 - 04:37 PM I've no quarrel with spending money on space. NASA is woefully, and in my opinion, idiotically, underfunded. As for the hungry kids, we SHOULD be able to do BOTH. Now, the COMMERCIALIZATION of space is another matter. Hadn't thought of A Canticle for Leibowitz in years! Wheel & fire still in the works. ;>) |
Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: robomatic Date: 15 Feb 18 - 07:12 PM Canticle For Leibowitz is one of my select 'Paragon of Christianity' writings. Its been done quite well for audio, as well. Heard a critical passage of it one night on the car radio driving north in New Hampshire to go hiking in the White Mountains. "'Eat! Eat! Eat!' The Pope's Child cried." |
Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: Donuel Date: 15 Feb 18 - 09:18 PM I'm warnin ya, if you make it to Mars yur gonna miss 'fresh air and pressure'. The chemical composition of Mars' atmosphere makes it smell like a silent but deadly hot fart. |
Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: robomatic Date: 15 Feb 18 - 10:59 PM 'Smell' is a subjective experience. A dinosaur fart and a Martian 'hot fart' are separated in space as well as time. Doctor Who has had both experiences no doubt and s/he is still with us. Inherit the booth. |

Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: robomatic Date: 16 Feb 18 - 05:27 PM Gotcha! By gum, you almost made sense that time. For the record, there is some sulfur smell, but when it's gonna kill ya, ya can't smell it. Your nose detectors die first. |
Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: Donuel Date: 16 Feb 18 - 06:00 PM I'm happy to hear your comprehension is improving. If A word to the wise is sufficient, you are already gaining clarity in as little as 8 words. Good job. Keep an eye on that confusion, it could be the harbinger of a brain fog Get some fresh air on Earth, forget Mars. |
Subject: RE: BS: My Tesla My Tesla, Gone to Mars? Oh Yesa From: Mr Red Date: 19 Feb 18 - 06:01 AM Your nose detectors die first. errrrrrr........... not what they tell you. Smell is the last sense to die, they say. (Don't ask how they know). And given that it is found in creatures without ears or eyes - I rather go with that view. |
