My best friend, Linda, was president of the Wayfarers fan club in Charleston during the '60's.I have 3 albums, one autographed, which my husband has recently converted to CD and have been enjoying them almost daily ever since. I was so happy to learn where their life's journey took them. As someone else stated, they are really good people. Thanks.

I would love to get copies of the Wayfarers albums, mine have disappeared.   Ray Blouin's mom was my swim coach and I swam with his sister in Charleston. Loved their music. How can I get the albums?

I was married to Corky Hart of The Wayfarers folk-rock group out of Chas, SC It was actually in the 60s & 70s. Tom & Sean were with the group before Corky & David joined. Corky & Ray Blouin & David Hull were close friends and the last part of the group for a few years before they broke up, because of the manager. I think David married Rays sister,( Tinker ? )
Last I heard, Ray still lived in Chas., & Corky lives in Summerville, SC, now married to Melony B. Corky goes by the name Charles C Hart for business. Don't know his phone number, you might find out from our daughter, Lisa Hart Rabang, also in Summerville.

The US Wayfarers were a group similar to the Limelighters in syle. I personally heard them perform in Jacksonville, FL in late 1963 0r early 1964 when I was a Naval officer stationed nearby. As a hard-core 60's folkie, I was very favorably impressed, as I recall. When I transfered to a new Naval duty station in Charleston, SC, in the fall of 1964, I found they had split up and two of them had opened a second floor folk club there and billed themselves as the "Half-fares". They performed themselves and had other local and touring acts.

There was an American folk group called 'The Wayfarers' in the early 60's and played together through the early 70's. Individuals members have been playing since and I think Ray Bluen is now in Virginia, still playing banjo like crazy and singing. He and another original member duoed up in a nightclub in Charleston SC around '76 for a while until Ray moved. I can't remember his partners name (I just remembered they called him 'Whale' but he unfortunately died from a rare diabetic type disorder that went undiagnosed. Some of their songs were 'Come Along', 'Old Blue', 'The Grape Tasters'. They were very good musicians, sang beautiful harmonies and their interpretation and presentation caught your attention. The only thing wrong was that the folk movement was gone by the 70's or they would have been bigger players for much longer.

I'm quite certain that my dad had some tapes including recordings of the Wayfarers. They're still with the company that is converting the tapes to digital format, but I'll let you know what's there (if anything) when I get them back.

During the 1960s, my wife, Barbara, and I, worked for RCA. There were so many Very Good Folk Groups. RCA recorded most of them, on both, the RCA label - and other labels. We got to meet so many of these Groups, including some of the Wayfarers.

We collected all four of their RCA LPs:
1504 Wandering w/The Wayfarers
2666 Come Along w/The Wayfarers
2735 The Wayfarers At The Hungry i
2946 The Wayfarers At The World's Fair.

Nice Music. Nice Memories.

Meanwhile 'The Wayfarers' from East Devon are referenced here:

http://talktorbay.com/torquay%E2%80%99s-other-history-donovan-torquay%E2%80%99s-1960s-folk-scene

"There was another trio called the Wayfarers, from East Devon, who would come to the club occasionally."

These are the ones I am trying to track down. These are the ones on London Folk Song Cellar no. 32. This can be heard here:

1/ Wish I was in Bowling Green
Sittin' on the Square
With one arm round m'whiskey jug
And the other round my dear
The other round my dear Bowling Green...
Oh.... dear old Bowling Green

2/ Wish I was a bumble bee flying through the air
I'd buzz beside my Patsy dear
Touch her if you dare
Touch her if you dare Bowling Green...
Oh.... dear old Bowling Green

3/ If you see that gal of mine
Tell her this from me
That if she loves another man
I will set her free
I will set her free Bowling Green...
Oh.... dear old Bowling Green

4/ If you love me touch me girl
Put your hand in mine
That if you love another man
I'll leave you behind
I'll leave you behind Bowling Green...
Oh.... dear old Bowling Green

5/ Wish I was in Bowling Green
Sittin' on the Square
With one arm round m'whiskey jug
And the other round my dear
The other round my dear Bowling Green...
Oh.... dear old Bowling Green
Dear old Bowling Green.

Raredance: The US Wayfarers that R-J mentions as a quartet later became a trio. There are at least two other albums by the group, "Live at the World's Fair," (that would have been Seattle), and an LP of Civil War Songs.

I only have only of those as a trio and not the same band(s) at all:

Wayfarers
Tom Adams, Dick Bailey, Ray Blouin & Sean Bonniwell ‎– At The World's Fair, RCA ‎– LPM-2946 (see multiple posts above)

Trio#1
Wayfarers
Paul Bain, Lee Schaefer & Ilka Sylvern – 2 LPs for RCA (see: Thomas Stern, 19 Aug 14—09:40 AM, above)

Trio#2
Wayfarers Trio (out of Oklahoma)
Bill Cheatwood, Baxter Taylor III & Mason Williams – 1 LP for Mercury, Songs Of The Blue & Grey, SR-60634, 1961

All three members of the formal "Trio" had a pretty good run in the music biz after they went their separate ways.

were the members. You were almost correct. Dick and Sean are dead. Ray lives near Lexington, Virgina and Tom is a Superior Court Judge in California.
