This made my day. I have been searching for that song for more than 20 years. Every time I went by a record store I searched for hours. I have known for years that the artist was Rhett Davies Davis and the name of the song but could never find it. Thank you for posting the lyrics and the song on your blog Pete and thank you everybody else for contributing.

I AM ALIVE AND WELL mainly because of wonderful folks like you who have been searching for all these years for "I Am The Eagle". I must confess I had a lump in my throat(several lumps actually) when I read the messages from people telling others how much the song has meant to them. You all have paid me the most fantastic compliment that I could have ever received. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I am still performing and writing. My wife & kids & I and have been living in Winter Park FL (suburb of Orlando) since 1985 by way of Nashville (where I am the eagle was recorded)by way of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. If any of you have been there then you will know where the inspiration for the song came from.

I am so glad to see the interest in "The Eagle". It is one of the most frequently sing songs at our Sing-a-longs. But I have an inside track and have known Rhett and his wife, Laurie, for almost my whole life. As Rhett says, if you know the Okanagan Valley, you will understand the inspiration for his songs. Don't hesitate to order his CD from him. It's great!

My little bro is 10 years old and he loves your song every time he hears it on CFCW he asks me or my mom to play it again I will be ordering the cd but first I need to know haw much it costs I'm in Canada
and well my 3 sisters and my mom think you should play at the Big Vally

What this song means to me personally is (beyond the emotions and tears it invokes from me) that powerful entities need not abuse the power they possess. Live and let live should have been the 11th commandment!

Incredible. I've been looking for this song since I heard it in the late 70s. Nobody I talked to had ever heard of it and no amount of googling 'fox' 'eagle' got me anything. Then tonight, JACKPOT! I'm buying it right now.
