Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: beardedbruce Date: 01 Sep 04 - 03:47 PM ah, but if she sent out her mailing address to everyone, and some of us at randome sent her things as well as our assigned person?... perhaps a fitting reward for all the work we expect her to do. |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Clinton Hammond Date: 01 Sep 04 - 06:09 PM " But it is disheartening to know that Liz can't play, her being the SECSY" I run SS's on a couple of other MBs, (that where I got the idea to originally suggest Mudcat run one...) and I ALWAYS take part... I might know who's got me, but I have no idea WHAT they're gonna get me... that's more than enough fun! So don't feel for a second that you CAN'T take part Liz! |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Joybell Date: 01 Sep 04 - 10:06 PM Our kindly postmaster tells me that the American drug and food people are considering baning the posting of food from here in Aus. I suppose there's always Vegemite. That doesn't count as food. Pity about the other edible goodies though. Joy |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 02 Sep 04 - 03:26 AM If the US is considering banning the posting of food from Australia, then we were definitely conned, not only by the FTA, but all that bullshit about how good an Ally we are and just how important the ANZUS treaty is to the USA. I say Gomorrah! |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Sep 04 - 03:57 AM I'll try to keep this thread bobbing near the top until the end of September. After that you get about a month to find a present before we start running out of time for international mailings. If anyone would like to purchase some special, seasonal greetings cards (not necessarily Christmas cards), I've got some handmade and cross stitched cards for sale at the princely sum of £1.25 each. They cost me £1.00 for materials to make and if I sell any via Mudcat, the remaining 25p goes to Mudcat. If I sell them outside of Mudcat, the 25p goes to the British Heart Foundation. Of course, I'm not organised enough to have pictures available, but if I ever get the hang of this HMTL thing, I will make a webpage and add a link to this thread! (If anyone wants to come and set me up with one, I'd be very happy to provide beer!) LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 03 Sep 04 - 12:53 PM Sue, give Liz the durable address of someone who will get the package to you! Even here in the U.S., the post office forwards packages. But in your list of hints, better make it clear that the gift needs to be non-breakable. :) You can trust them to get the box to you, but heaven only knows what kind of shape it will be in! SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 05 Sep 04 - 04:15 AM Limpit is 8 and takes a great interest in a lot of the threads here.... usually the ones with 'fart', 'burp' or 'cats' in the titles. She's been to many a Mudcat gathering and shared the house with 'foreign' 'catters, so I think she ought to be included. Besides, it might give her an interest outside of pink fairies and Neopets Do not click here if you value your sanity and encourage her to think of someone else. Anyone else got children they want to include? LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 05 Sep 04 - 12:49 PM My kids are into Neopets, have been for a while. We have firewall issues when it comes to sending messages and saving "points." The big one around here lately is Ragnarok (it comes from the ROK--Republic of Korea, so I keep a close eye on it). A nice distraction from these online games is a good idea! SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: 2004 Secret Santa Time!! From: Helen Date: 06 Sep 04 - 04:37 PM NeoPets - wait till you see the next development - Virtual Girlfriend! It relies on the man spending lots of money - real money on their credit cards - to buy her flowers and gifts otherwise she sulks. [Virtual Girlfriend is God's way of telling some men they have too much money.] BBC News: HK firm develops cyber girlfriend "For men without a partner, help may be at hand - in the form of a virtual girlfriend. "The Hong Kong company Artificial Life, which developed the new game, says the girl will appear as an animated figure on the video screen of a mobile phone. "But there is a downside to the virtual girlfriend - she will require more flowers and gifts than many real women. " ........... "The company has plans to introduce a virtual boyfriend for women, although it remains to be seen how it will persuade them to spend extra money on the game. "But it may be encouraged by the success of a Japanese company that recently created a Boyfriend Arm Pillow - for women who miss being hugged by a man at night. "The product is reportedly a big hit with the ladies. " |
