Subject: RE: BS: MOAB's Daughter (of all BS) part 4 From: Donuel Date: 25 Aug 25 - 09:20 AM There is a movie for people who like to think. It is called 'Frequencies'. It defines free will, fate, politics, and profound music in such a way that is excedingly simple yet haunting in its implications. It is available for free on Prime. |

Subject: RE: BS: MOAB's Daughter (of all BS) part 4 From: Rapparee Date: 28 Aug 25 - 09:06 AM Well, I had a capilliotomy yesterday. Yes, some of my hair was cut off and thrown away, instead of being saved and revered as relics. |
Subject: RE: BS: MOAB's Daughter (of all BS) part 4 From: Donuel Date: 30 Aug 25 - 11:53 AM There are well over 5,000 near-miss reports of UFOs from pilots willing to report. There are 100 times as many distant sightings by pilots. Never has there been a collision. There is a likelihood that UFOs are vulnerable to lighting but not hittingS our aircraft. Since 2017 when the US military admitted that many UFOs are material realities, but there has been no outcry or public outrage. On the other hand there is far more concern regarding Trump tariffs. |
Subject: RE: BS: MOAB's Daughter (of all BS) part 4 From: Donuel Date: 31 Aug 25 - 09:35 AM THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE EXPERT Mnay experts have been fired but the real vacuum will come from AL taking over novice jobs at first and more advanced skills as time goew on. Mentors that remain may not be called upon to teach or inspire. Going down tech roads that are programmed to be bigots or unintuitive will mislead societies and culture. What it is to be human may become a bored, unemployed, overweight observer of life and art. Or life will have panaceas never dreamed of with idealized adventure. Utopia or depression are both possible. But the expert will probably go extinct. |

Subject: RE: BS: MOAB's Daughter (of all BS) part 4 From: MaJoC the Filk Date: 04 Sep 25 - 12:00 PM > taking over novice jobs at first That's the long-term problem with Artificial Incompetence: once one generation of trainees has been replaced, where will the next generation of experts come from? I still treasure my ability to do arithmetic by hand, despite having an electronic calculator, as wetware doesn't need a battery or mains supply. .... That's assuming there *is* a long term for LLMs. The bubble may have been given the skin of a dirigible, but I can hear the creaking of canvas under strain. |

Subject: RE: BS: MOAB's Daughter (of all BS) part 4 From: Rapparee Date: 04 Sep 25 - 08:43 PM The surgeon, named Megan (Ol' Doc Megan) grabbed me and threw me into a chair. No anesthesia, she wrapped a bedsheet around me neck and attacked my head with scissors and electric clippers. When it was over, parts of me lay on the floor, the chair, the counter, and all over the surgery chair. Then she charged me USD30.00 and tossed me out into the street. |
Subject: RE: BS: MOAB's Daughter (of all BS) part 4 From: Rapparee Date: 05 Sep 25 - 11:04 AM Yes, Mom. Sunday, the day after tomorrow, I leave for Seattle to fly to Nome. Yes, I will pick you up a Nome gnome for our home, but not for our Rome home. Your roaming kid is going Noming. Tuesday I'll set sail for Vancouver (the BC one, not the WA one). In the meantime I'll check in whenever I can, as service is spotty when you're living in a kayak on the Bering Sea, the Gulf of Alaska, and the Inside Passage. . |
