I appear to have lost my cookie. Anybody seen it?

I announce my intention to visit Goxhill this evening, ladies and gentlemen.

Hi LH. Returning to you question about the forests around South Ferriby, we call them plantations or spinneys. If they produced willow shoots for the basket industry and were managed by pollarding the trees, they are referred to as coppices. We use them to hide the bodies of skinned melodionists. In South Ferriby, they have blindingly obvious names such as "Top Plantation", "Middle Plantation" and oh bugger, I can't remember the name of the other one. But it is a bit further down the hill towards the river Ancholme upon which the Cannesesque lifestyle of the South Ferriby Marina society flourishes, fuelled by the oxygen of consumerism and blatant displays of conspicuous wealth.

If they were thick (the skins that is ,not the melodionists) you could tan them & make boots.

You don't just hit it, one of the reasons that Bodhrans have such a bad name is that some people do just that, hit them. Played properly they are a wonderful sensitive percussion instrument that should keep the rest of the players in time. By beating them in different places or by incresing/decreasing pressure on the skin using the palm of the hand to apply tension a good Bodhran player can create glorious nuances of sound.
Sadly most people just beat the S H one T out of them.

Sweetfire, you still have exams to come, get some revising done !

Pete, how's the thumb? Here you go, some oils good for muscle/joint pain:
Clary Sage
Chamomile
Eucalyptus
Valerian
Lavender
Thyme
Blend 5-6 drops of oil with 10mls of carrier oil (grapeseed is the most commonly used) & massage in.
Or very soothing for muscle/joint pain.Make a compress by adding 2 drops of essential oil to 200ml of either hot or cold water, fold a natural piece of fabric such as cotton into several layers, soak in the solution, squeeze out the excess then lay over the affected area for at least an hour, resoaking at intervals.
Give it a try, you never know!

No jOhn they aren't highland pipes they are border pipes - like a bigger version of the smallpipes but with a sound (and volume) that is closer to the highland pipes plus I can get various notes not available on the small or highland pipes like G#, C natural,E flat and F natural which can make them sound a bit middle eastern! much fun!(and of course allows me to play a broader range of music)
