Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Hints - 2003 From: GUEST,Col's Secret Santa Date: 19 Oct 03 - 02:13 AM Dear Col Very embarassing this, but I didn't want you to think I'd forgotten you. Yes, it's happened again, I was picked up in another sleigh speed trap, and will be incarcerated for a period of time. Nonetheless, since I'll have precious little else to do but make sleigh licence plates, I'll be thinking hard about what to get you and will ho..ho..ho..hopefully get out early with good behavior, in which case you will receive your much deserved presents in a timely fashion. To that end I would appreciate a more specific input re musical taste. For instance, just what do you mean by not wanting CDs that consist of "tunes, like in a session?" Must go...another elf is here to see me. Mrs. Santa refuses to come, takes the rediculous view that I'm a disgrace to the family, and spends all her time blubbing in the lav. But I'm sure you understand. Santa |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Hints - 2003 From: Hollowfox Date: 28 Oct 03 - 10:19 PM Sorry for the delay, my darling SS (she said, sucking up). First I had the great-grandmother of all colds, then my computer crashed, then I was always interrupted at work so I couldn't sneak it in (then the dog ate my homework etcetc) Anyway, I am 54, female, t-shirt size X. I prefer silver over gold, but appreciate beauty and craftsmanship over anything else. I love bright or rich colors (hard to find a bright shade of, say, brown). Used books, records, casettes, CDs, videos or DVDs are Wonderful Things and A Very Fine Idea. My taste in books runs to folklore/mythology, storytelling and suchlike in nonfiction, fantasy in fiction, and anything that's funny. If you live in the UK, I'd love anything bu Duncan Williamson or Stanley Robertson. If you live in Australia, I'd love anything by Kel Watkins. Music? I'm a ballad junkie, but also like most traditional stuff. I was raised on opera, like renaissance music, bawdy songs, novelty records...pretty much whatever comes along except atonal "modern" jazz. Other hobbies include embroidery, cross-stitch and latch-hook, so designing something for me to stitch might be nice (I can't draw to save my life). Movies I'd like? Laurel & Hardy in Blotto, Eisenstein's Ivan the Terrible, Peter Ustinov in Topkapi, Songcatcher (yes really), and if you're Canadian - the Arrogant Worms DVD of their gig with the Edmonton Symphony (as long as it doesn't go over the cost limit). Again, if you're in the UK, I'd love to replace my copy of Taffy Thomas's Take These Chains From My Heart recording. And I just discovered Hugh Lupton a couple of weeks ago at the National Storytelling Festival. When in Doubt, Edible gifts are always welcome. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Hints - 2003 From: Micca Date: 01 Nov 03 - 10:38 AM posted this on silly hints but having just walked past 6 sealed up post boxes mayve here is also worth a post SSs In general, if your Santa or Santee is UK based be warned there is a postal strike that may mean things are delayed,(both in and out of the country) so if it is perishible,it might be as well to hold up a little and wait for the strike to be resolved, Will post when it (the strike) is or when there is more news. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Hints - 2003 From: GUEST,Burke's SS Date: 19 Dec 03 - 09:05 AM Ah, Burke! Package one has been sent, you know. But I doubt that it will give you a clue to the ID of your SS -- or, as we say in Her Majesty's Service, no clue to ID your SS, since we like to drop prepositions. In fact the ground is littered with prepositions. Bloody messy, it is, too. Needs a good sweeping up, if you ask me. Then again, there are those who say that you SS doesn't have a clue either. But there will be ANOTHER package sent shortly. And then, a special Packet o' Clues. But here's a clue to mull over: "To feel the hand of Franklin reaching for the Northern Sea." No, I'm not in Canada or Alaska at the moment. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Hints - 2003 From: GUEST,Asclepius' s aunty Artemis Date: 20 Dec 03 - 02:36 PM Pan made me a gift to give you but off into the woods he then flew chasing one of my nymphs with the pipes at his hips where he is now I haven't a clue. But I'll catch him one wintry night by a shaft of soft feathery light and I'll send the fine whistles (I won't enclose thistles) Hope your Christmas and Hanukkah's bright love, aunty artemis PS hope you got your little song! You're so talented, nephew! |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Hints - 2003 From: Burke Date: 22 Dec 03 - 06:02 PM Santa, dear, I hope the package arrived in today's mail (I'm at work). Tomorrow I'm leaving town & won't be back until Dec. 30. I may not be able to get on to Mudcat while I'm away, either. I'm waiting eagerly. I think I'll probably spend New Year's mulling over these clues & trying to decipher them. I'm a lousy detective. The only Franklin I know is Ben. |
