Subject: RE: BS: what did ya do today? From: Rapparee Date: 25 Aug 05 - 08:51 AM I haven't done much yet today but eat breakfast. Yesterday, however, I met with the Mayor, did a performance appraisal on a staff member, attended a workshop on the new fiscal year that starts October 1, went to the dentist for a checkup and cleaning, answered some phone calls, and weeded in the back yard. Oh, yeah, went to the farmers' market, too. And prepared a presentation for the staff on how to intimidate people; I'll give that next Monday. And some other stuff. |

Subject: RE: BS: what did ya do today? From: LilyFestre Date: 18 Nov 05 - 06:31 PM I woke up early, all snuggly and warm under 3 quilts and looked out the window and watched it snow. While I was trying to wake up, I listened to my husband who was playing his guitar downstairs. I showered, got dressed, made breakfast, packed lunches and went to school early. The next 3 hours were spent working on a project, then it was off to class. Afterwards I paid bills and ran errands, got groceries and I am now trying to get the fire in the woodstove to cooperate. :) A busy but productive day. If anyone wants to come over and help put the groceries away, I wouldn't have too many objections!!! Michelle |

Subject: RE: BS: what did ya do today? From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 18 Nov 05 - 10:46 PM Had a good day... went shopping with my wife and finished my Christmas shopping (boos and hisses gratefully accepted.) Cleaned my office and found all sorts of interesting stuff, none of it moldy. Listened to a "random music" CD and gathered together loose cassettes in order to get back to burning a CD of the Messengers, talked with my main man Joe and made plans for singing together tomorrow night, had son and daughter-in-law stop by in the evening and served beef stew I made it the slow cooker, yesterday. I love days like these... absolutely nothing of any major import. I'll take 'em, any day. Jerry |

Subject: RE: BS: what did ya do today? From: Jeanie Date: 19 Nov 05 - 07:22 AM I love those days of "absolutely nothing of any import", too Jerry. Sometimes, on those days, I stop in my tracks and think,"Wooh! isn't this great ?" and I hang on to the feeling as much as I can. It's very tempting sometimes to wish your life away, waiting for some big and wonderful event to happen, when, in reality, This Is It, right now. The "saying of the day" on my desk calendar today says: "Anyone who can say every day 'Today, I lived' is truly happy." Today (now, actually, yesterday) we had to be up early, tidying up a bit for the first visit of my daughter's Physics tutor - she is doing her A level course by herself, because it didn't fit in to her college timetable. He turned out to be a thoroughly friendly and helpful fellow, who I'm sure wouldn't have minded a bit if the place *had* been untidy, and I think they will get along fine. My working life is spent in an ever-changing mixture of several part-time jobs, teaching drama and languages and doing translations, and I had a call yesterday offering me a new job, starting in January, which will replace a contract one elsewhere which is coming to an end in December - so great news. LilyFestre: I envy you your snow ! We certainly had a lot of frost here in the UK, though, and it was lovely going into town with all the festive lights in the trees and that lovely, damp, smokey smell in the air that only seems to happen on November evenings. From the start of the evening on, my day was decidedly less than "normal". In the space of two hours, I was an operating theatre assistant, decked out in surgical green garb, gloves, hat and mask, closely followed by being a bored audience member, grabbing my coat as a left my seat, then with just enough time to kit myself out as a Goth - black lipstick, scarey hairstyle, heavy black eyelids,.... I have walk-on parts in a play, "Bums on Seats". Great luxury of not having any lines to remember, just being in the right place at the right time (and not bumping into the furniture, hopefully) and all the fun of the costume changes and the back-stage cameraderie. It's not an everyday occurrence for me - but oh, how I wish it was, and I relish every opportunity. Very glad this thread is still going. It's so interesting to see how varied our days are. - jeanie |

Subject: RE: BS: what did ya do today? From: Ebbie Date: 18 Feb 06 - 06:34 PM Well, I'm in the process of packing up to move down the hill one block. (The museum I have lived in for a total of more than 12 years is scheduled to begin renovation early next month and I'm told that I don't want to be here when they start taking down the plaster.) I have three pockets to pitch to: one to keep and take down the hill with me, one to donate to Salvation Army and Friends of the Library and one that will go out with the garbage. My plan and hope is that what I take with me will be the smallest pocket. Now, however, I have come down with a juicy cold ao I'm slowed down. Am baking bread but that's about the extent of my householdy chores today. Did take Meggie, my little Cairn, on a longish walk though. |

We continued driving north along Senaca Lake until we reached our favorite winery where we shared a bottle of wine with the owner and his fiance on the deck overlooking the vineyard and lake. Other folks joined us for small bits of time and left with others to take their place. Just returned home from dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Then drove home, stopping at the 7-11 in Gordonsville for a 10 minute nap, with a danged criptomeria sticking me in the armpit the entire way home... But beat the heak outta construction work... Subject: RE: BS: what did ya do today? From: JennyO Date: 12 Mar 06 - 10:22 PM Well, it was a busy weekend of wonderful food, nice wine, pleasant company, and a bit too much Aussie heat - but overall, a good one. On Saturday I rounded up all the plants I have been collecting to take my son for a belated birthday present, including a couple of big decorative indoor ones and some herbs I potted from my garden - as well as a couple of bottles of wine. We had yummy fajitas that he made, then over the course of the evening we put away all the wine, while he tinkered with computers and showed me his new Canon printer which also burns and labels CDs. He printed me out a lovely photo of my grandson Max. The quality is quite exceptional! Stayed there overnight. Sunday morning, it was blueberry bagels and a trip to a fair across the road from his place. Also spent time with Max. It was very hot and I got a bit sunburned. Bought George another indoor plant, then sat around at his place and had king prawns with seafood sauce and crusty bread rolls for lunch. Came home mid afternoon and pottered in the garden. including giving it a good watering. Because of water restrictions, we can only water before 10am and after 5pm on Wednesday and Sunday, so I have to make it count when I do it. Then went over to John and Dale Dengate's place to practise some songs we are doing at the National, and picked on their "leftovers" which are always pretty darned good leftovers - that's if you can call smoked salmon and all manner of baked veges and salad and crumbly Mersey Valley cheese etc etc leftovers - all washed down with a nice red or two. By the time I went to bed I was well and truly ready for it - still a touch of the sun, I think - and slept in a bit this morning. Now it's another stinking hot day (currently 33c) and it's autumn. I wish it would hurry up and start cooling down a bit! Jenny (hot and bothered in Sydney) |

Subject: RE: BS: what did ya do today? From: Firecat Date: 14 Mar 06 - 05:28 PM Not much in the morning, cos I had it free. In the afternoon, I went in to my work experience placement and tried to keep children under control while making model bridges. We had a couple of mechanical engineers come in yesterday and they asked the kids to make model bridges out of Artstraws and masking tape. My group decided to start from scratch with theirs today because the one they did yesterday was more tape than straws! After that, while the children had PE, I helped with filing work and mounting, as did the other work experience girl, Zoe, who finishes on Friday. I've got another 9 weeks (including Easter holiday) to do, unless I find a job in the meantime. Mind you, I don't want to find a job at the moment cos I'm loving the placement too much!! Anyway, once I got home, I watched a bit of telly (Friends, yay!!) then went up to my room, supposedly to watch more telly, but in reality to fall asleep. Mind you, before I did I got a phone call from a friend I hadn't heard from for ages, so I chatted to her for a little bit first. I woke up again at about 9pm, after which I fed and came on to the computer. I played a few games on Neopets, then came over on to here and posted to this thread. So, that's what I did today. |
