Good morning Kendall. Hope you get to move out today and things will start to smooth out for you. Glad to see you're up to posting and I'll keep my eye on you. And Jacqui, Kendall is so very lucky to have you!

I 'm now in regular care with a proper bathroom and only two hookups. I can now disconnect everything my self to go pee. No more nurses helping me there!

Dr. Zeitels assistant surgeon says I may be able to go home by Monday or TUESDAY. Can't come too soon.I'm hungry as hell and I need sleep above all.
The staff here are wonderful, no wonder it is so popular as to be rated one of the very best in America.

Dear Kendall, In the words of Our friend, the 'Good Doctor'...
"Dear Boy, if you're reading this, you're far, far better than you were when you couldn't!   Thought you might enjoy a bit O lite readin' 'bout now! Glad you're on the mend!

Sea Chill   (Arthur Guiterman)    (News item, ca 1928:)
"When Mrs. John Masefield and her husband, the author of "Imust go down to the seas again", arrived here on a liner, she saidto a reporter, "It was too uppy-downy, and Mr. Masefield was ill.")

I must go down to the seas again,
where the billows romp and reel,
And all I ask is a large ship that rides on an even keel,
And a mild breeze and a broad deck
with a slight list to leeward,
And a clean chair in a snug nook
and a nice, kind, steward.

I must go down to the seas again,
the sport of wind and tide,
As the gray wave and the green wave
play leap-frog over the side.
And all I want is a glassy calm with a bone-dry scupper,
A good book and a warm rug and a light, plain supper.

I must go down to the seas again,
though there I'm a total loss
And can't say which is worse, the pitch,
the plunge, the roll, the toss.
But all I ask is a safe retreat in a bar well tended,
And a soft berth and a smooth course
'till the long trip's ended.

Peace, Love, Rest, and so much Friendship,
to both you and Jacqui-...quite a team you you be!
Bob Z

Regular Room? Zounds! seems pretty boring and not appropriate at all. We all pretty irregular here and I think

THIS ROOM

suits any mudcatter. Reason being it is so irregular that one would want to get well quick just to be free of it.

Incentive don't cha know.

I'm glad you're into a regular room. Does that mean you'll get a regular night's sleep?

I slept on several convertible pieces of hospital room furniture when Moonglow was in the hospital a couple of times back in her freshman year of college. If Jacqui is sleeping on something similar I think she'll be even more ready to head home on Tuesday than you are!

Take care, both of you!

He's better now he's on the ward, but still very tired and has discomfort from the feeding tube, which makes him feel very unsocial.

We're keeping visitors to a minimum as he's tiring very easily and I'll let you know if that changes. For now he needs peace and quiet and to be able to rest as much as possible to heal.

I'm glad he's on a FLOOR now as things are a lot easier there to say the least. Sleep is exactly what is needed and asking for something for pain or sleep is not cheating or drug seeking. There are no points awarded for "toughing it out" unless they are for stupidity.

Get all the rest you can now and then get more at home. Its the best way to go. And follow the Doc's orders whatever they are regarding speaking, diet, or taking a crap. Bitch, piss, and moan, but DO IT!!!

BTW.....The reason Bill didn't want to feel the leather coat is that he feels something leather of his own...................

We all love you Kendall..............I have no idea why.

A good reason for keeping visitors to a minimum--if he's feeling anti-social he's likely to decapitate them by twos and threes, and he's not interested in getting a head.

That's alright now, dear, just close your eyes and rest...remember the old Sominex ads? Just sing it gently in your mind...

Take sleeping/pain meds t'night and sleep
Safe and restful sleep, sleep, sleep...

if that doesn't work, count herring!

Very good news, Kendall. Is that proposed home date a bunch earlier than what they had originally predicted, or did I misread something earlier. I was thinking they were going to keep you two weeks. If so, , a possible release date of early next week sounds very, very good!

Thinking of you (and you, Jacqui.) Don't both of you get worn down to nubbins!

Kendall is in good hands, surrounded as he is by all you Morse women. If ever he doesn't seem to know that - say the word - this ol' hillbilly woman will whomp him up the side of the head to knock some sense into him. ('cept I expect ya'll will beat me to it:>)

Molly & I had some good pickin last nite & again this morming here at the BG festival in Palatka, Florida. We were both bitchin & whining a few minutes ago about "my back hurts" (from standing playing the bas for 4 hours). "My leg is cramping" & (can't even walk to the stage). THEN I THOUGHT! Kendall probably would love to switch places with either one of us. That was the end of the bitchin.
Sounds like progress is being made and it probably seems slow at this point. But we WILL see you in Skowhegan soon & get in some target practice. All our best to you both. We love you.

Running through this and similar threads about Kendall, one thing has become clear: there is lots more here than there seems to be. I suspect either the Knights Templar or the Knights of Pythias. I'm going to write a book about it and entitle it "The Morse Code."

This day started off with a surprise; from constipation to diarrhea.Poor Johnnie, I hardly knew ye.
I had a problem breathing for a while, the canister in my throat was seriously plugged and I was desperate for air. These people sure know how to treat broken antiques though.
They know I'm a writer, so maybe that's why they cater to me? I know I'm writing like I think, broken sentences, it's the dope I guess.

At times such as these I have to think what my life would be like laying here with no one who gives a shit if I live or die. Without friends and family it would be hell on earth for sure. The physical rain aloe is enough to make anyone wonder if it's worth it; then mix in the loneliness... shit man, no one was ever luckier than I am.

I spent a little time with the Captain yesterday - delivered a few necessities - and got Jacqui out for lunch. Seems to me I remember a perky nurse pumping in huge amounts of a protein mix. Not surprised it hit bottom with a thud. Three days of almost nothing and then two hours of the equivalent of a pepperoni pizza will do it.

Have to admit Kendall, when I walked into your room I was braced for the worst and determined not to let it show on my face. Instead there was my old friend looking healthy and acting sassy. You are an amazing man.

You probably feel as if you have been hit by a truck but you don't look it. Jacqui looks more tired than you. Maybe it's those sassy nurses.

Folks, he has one who matches him quip for quip. Re: his breathing mask - "I know you like it from behind.". She is a gem. He is all blue eyes and dimples when she's around.

But he does tire easily. And with all the holes and tubes and lack of privacy re: bodily functions, it can't be easy for our Mainer to have company. Check with Jacqui before you make any surprise visits.
It is all about Kendall right now and like me you will be asked to vacate the premises on demand.

Thanks Mary - Kendall will be getting a number of visitors today - his family are coming in en masse, including his grandson. He gets tired very fast and I will be checking to make sure that he doesn't get over tired. So, right now, no visitors unless I've said OK, please.

He's probably going to be going through a barium swallow tomorrow - the last one left him feeling very much under the weather and just wanting to rest - not a pleasant experience.

Saying that, he's in good spirits this morning and looking better every day. He is recovering amazingly well and is managing the trach tube himself with no problem at all. Now, if we can get that tube out and start him eating properly.......

He has been promised Maine shrimp as soon as he can manage to swallow it and lobster as soon as he wants it. It will be good to get home.

I'm being cared for well. Kendall's oldest daughter makes sure that I have a good meal and a glass of wine when I get back there at night and a packed lunch and juice to take with me. Mary was amazing yesterday - it did me so much good to have her visit - and Deb and Becca are checking to make sure I'm OK, which I am, now that Kendall is recovering so well.

Thanks to all of you - your posts mean so much to both of us.

Jacqui

It looks like you're being well cared for up there!

Jacqui, if you can find a quiet spot for a 15-20 minute power nap a couple of times a day that should help your energy level. When given an impromptu nap location (like if I'm driving and am so tired I must pull over for a nap in the driver's seat with it tipped back) my technique is to pull the hood from my jacket up and over my forehead so I can cover my eyes with it. If you can't darken the room, you need to at least block out the light. And I set the timer on my phone.

Kendall, heal well and get past all of these tubes and wires quickly.
