Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: Nancy King Date: 28 Oct 05 - 02:23 PM Dear Patient (I hope...) Krissie Kringle: Yikes! I hope I haven't missed the sleigh! I just remembered you need a clue, But my creativity's gone away So this little list will have to do! Age & gender - over 60 (barely...), female. Favorite colors - earth tones other than orange. Favorite type of book - historical fiction, thrillers (but I work in a library, so have access to whatever books I want). Favorite type of music - most types of folk music, especially good harmony singing. No particular CD's currently on my list. I'll pass on the videos and T-shirts, thanks anyhow. Collect anything? Just dust bunnies and miscellaneous paper, but I already have plenty of those. Hobbies - gardening, puzzles, needlework, and of course, folk music. Prefer gold-tone jewelry. I'll be pleased to get whatever my Secret Santa sends my way! Something from his/her home area, or his/her favorite music, would be great! Thanks -- and I'll try to be good! Nancy |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Tannywheeeler's Sweet & Secret Santa Date: 29 Oct 05 - 04:01 AM I want to give you something, my child, for we are drifting in the stream of the world. Our lives will be carried apart, and our love forgotten. But I am not so foolish as to hope that I could buy your heart with my gifts. Young is your life, your path long, and you drink the love we bring you at one draught and turn and run away from us. You have your play and your playmates. What harm is there if you have no time or thought for us. We, indeed, have leisure enough in old age to count the days that are past, to cherish in our hearts what our hands have lost for ever. The river runs swift with a song, breaking through all barriers. But the mountain stays and remembers, and follows her with his love. (Rabindranath Tagore) Dear Tannywheeler A tiny pressie is in the post From Hull, Hawaii or the Holy Ghost Music will sing to you From a special place Not all JUNK is trash (with a smile on my face) In time you will understand What the Loved Ones bring With a thrill up your spine When they sing sing sing Not for a grandchild This special treasure But for YOU, Tannywheeler forever to treasure! heh heh heh.... your Secret Santa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: My guru always said Date: 29 Oct 05 - 05:41 AM Dearest Secret Santa: Veiled references is it? Are you a lost soul trapped within the Littlewoods catalogue? (Pratchett would have created a good story on that line methinks!) Or is this the 7 veils & are you a member of the Belly Dancers of the UK? Location? Your avid reading of the Littlewoods catalogue combined with your 'Dougalness' points me to the UK., Northern possibly - but I'm probably way off-base *grin* |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: GUEST,Freda's Careless Claus Date: 30 Oct 05 - 03:07 PM Only one card? The post must be slow this week.... The site that you pointed to is incorrect in one significant fact. The jackalope (which is not any relation to the antilabbit) is actually a juvenile form of the north pole reindeer. The latter, in turn, really is a separate species from the northern European reindeer, in that they are able to fly. The jackalope, which one can easily see is related to the deer, practices flying by taking prodigious long jumps...up to fifteen metres. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: Charmion Date: 30 Oct 05 - 06:29 PM Oh, Father (Mother?) Christmas, could it be that you are *threatening* me? Dead mouse and smelly sock, and not even Hallowe'en yet! But you've given me a good hint to your identity -- you've got to be at least partly feline, with such tid-bits at your disposal. But since you ask ... I am 51 years old and I play the guitar and the mandolin. I have just acquired a tenor banjo. My favourite colour is green. I like CDs with mixed songs and tunes, preferably traditional. Something from your home area would be nice, just so long as the soloists do not meow. An all-instrumental CD that I could listen to while working would be great; I think I'm wearing out my copy of "Old Hearth" by Robin Huw Bowen. I like history, memoirs and biography (but not the gossipy film-star kind), and novels, especially Terry Pratchett and good detective stories such as those by Minette Walters, John Brady and Peter Robinson. I like song books and tune collections. I read dots & tadpoles, but struggle with tabulature. No t-shirts, thank-you very much; I have one that says "Eat More Possum" and therefore need no others. I don't collect stuff, at least not on purpose. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santa Signals - 2005 From: Pseudolus Date: 31 Oct 05 - 12:32 PM To my Gorgeous secret santa, More about myself? Hmmmm, I'm married to an amazing woman and I'm the father of two teen-aged girls (14 and 16) and father to twin boys (just turned 2!). The amazing woman provided the twins! I've been lurking around the mudcat for about 5 years or so and I probably hold the record for the longest mudcat tenure while meeting the fewest mudcatters face to face! I play the guitar and sing, and at my church I am the Contemporary Praise Team leader along with my wife. In that group I play the drums which is an old bad habit I picked up in high school. I'm 47 years young and one of my favorite activities is coaching my daughters in a variety of sports. I think that about covers it! Frank |
