Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: alanabit Date: 31 Mar 07 - 08:34 AM I think Rick Fielding came up with a good one sometime back. I enjoyed that. I enjoy the April Fool gags, but the day is not all a giggle for me. It's the day my Mum passed away seven years ago. Still, every day is a day like that for someone! |
Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 31 Mar 07 - 09:44 PM "April, Fool's is Coming" No - I'm just breathing heavily! |
Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: JennyO Date: 31 Mar 07 - 10:21 PM I was April-Fooled by a little feature on my computer. I have Linux (Ubuntu) which has a few optional amusing but utterly useless things that can sit quietly at the top of the screen. One of them is G Eyes, which looks like a pair of eyes that follows the cursor round. Another is called Wanda the Fish. It looks like a goldfish that moves from side to side. If you click on her, you get a randomly generated saying. I happened to notice Wanda before I went to bed last night (well after midnight) and she was not moving - in fact, she was flopped down and looked dead. When I clicked on her, I got a little window which said: Wanda the Fish says: The water needs changing. See today's date! |

Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: Rusty Dobro Date: 01 Apr 07 - 10:20 AM The Home Office have entered into the spirit of the thing - they had everyone fooled that from today the Immigration Service would become the Borders and Immigration Agency, doing exactly the same things but needing new logos, stationary, branded clothing, door signs, warrants, computer programs, in fact everything. All to let Dr Reid off the hook for things that have gone wrong in the past due to weak and incompetent management. Thank goodness it's just a prank! |

Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: katlaughing Date: 01 Apr 07 - 05:25 PM LOL...I love the following from their FAQ page: Users with low-flow toilets may simultaneously experience a saving-the-environment glow and slower-data-speed blues. Is Google TiSP safe and reliable? Google TiSP ensures reliable throughput through the power of fiber, which has been proven through extensive research to effectively facilitate consistent data flow with minimal latency. And you can rest assured that under no circumstances will the TiSP system ever expose your privates. |

Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: SINSULL Date: 01 Apr 07 - 06:59 PM The Grand Scheme of the Universe is having an April Fool's go at me. My son got out of jail today. SIGH Then he called with an April Fool joke claiming he had run over a kitten while doing donuts in a parking lot. Bigger SIGH. SINS |
Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: Joe_F Date: 01 Apr 07 - 08:28 PM Sinsull: What does it mean to *do* a donut? Is it sort of like a miniature cartwheel? In the April 1975 issue of Scientific American, Martin Gardner devoted his column to "six sensational discoveries" of 1974. It started with a map that required five colors, and worked its way up to a psychically powered motor. Large numbers of readers took it seriously and sent in elaborate confirmations & refutations. |
Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 02 Apr 07 - 02:21 AM A 'donut' is when a motorised vehicle is spun in a circle usually making lots of noise and tyre smoke - with a motorbike you can put one foot down, with a car, you hang on and pray you hit nothing. Some Formula One Drivers do it when they win, raising a huge cloud of smoke... The loonies are much loved by the tyre manufacturers... |
Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: JennyO Date: 02 Apr 07 - 06:59 AM We get yahoos doing donuts round our roundabout sometimes on the weekend. Of course, just when you need them, there are no police to be seen. Sometimes we call it "chucking wheelies" - and that doesn't mean that they throw wheelie bins around, although that's been known to happen too. |
Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: Donuel Date: 02 Apr 07 - 07:02 AM Senator McCain and his entourage toured Baghdad doing a little shoppingjust to show how sage the surge has made Iraq. If you don;t believe me you can watch the videotape. |
Subject: RE: April Fool's is Coming From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 02 Apr 07 - 08:02 AM We have a phrase here that we sometimes refer to our beloved politicians by. It all seemed to start when Johnny Howard was in Washington on that Sept 11, although I do believe that the original phrase came from "Get Smart". Several other pollies, have also had close shaves, including a couple of Federal Ministers in Indonesia who were not on the Garuda plane. We say "Missed Him.... by THAT much!" |
