Subject: BS: more on Cornelius Lyons, Irish Harper From: GUEST,mg Date: 02 Apr 07 - 01:38 AM Well, this is very interesting. I can't find the original thread although I know there was one. I was just talking to one of my newly found second cousins. We have the same great grandparents, Timothy Garvey and Maggie Lyons...she was saying that Maggie was the daughter of a famous Irish musician...I said where did you hear that..she said just family history...well, we know that Maggie's father's name was Cornelius. Maggie was born around 1830 or 1833...I have to google. I think I figured out before that he would have been either pretty old as a father or else totally impossible but maybe not. We don't know the mother's name or anything other than father's name and I don't know how we know that but it sure would be nice if any genealogy buffs could help on this. Maggie ended up in Clermont Iowa and died in 1915 either in Wisconsin or Iowa. She is the one who smoked a clay pipe and wore the particular colored petticoat that is particular to a specific part of Ireland...but frankly she does not sound highly sophisticated and wasn't he a harper for the courts etc????? I don't know but this is interesting...mg |

Subject: RE: BS: more on Cornelius Lyons, Irish Harper From: Peace Date: 02 Apr 07 - 01:48 AM Sorry, that should read CL. Anyway, that would have put Cornelius at 59-62. Perhaps old to be a father, but not to sire a child. |
