Time for something different on the BS section. OK, the nice weather's here. Your mum was always telling you to get out and play in the fresh air.

If only she knew...

Unlike most hang-gliding vids which go for the "extreme sports" banging-hardcore soundtrack, this is what free flying is *really* like. Minutes or even hours of exhilaration, with no noise except the rush of the wind. (Bookended by two thirty-second spells of mega stagefright at takeoff and landing, the former like when you've got to make that step up to the mic, and the latter like when you're up at the mic and the whole room goes quiet, and you realise you'd better make this good! ;-)

Don't know what the US is like, but the weather in the UK so far is being fantastic. If you've ever been tempted to give it a go, this year looks like being a damn fine time to start.

The weather in Juneau, Alaska has been fantastic for four days. Bright skies, white-capped mountains jutting high, warm- in the 50s although it feels like the 70s-, calm and balmy. Gorgeous.

I only had no trousers on because I was in the middle of sewing a new pair and needed to check the fit.
