Hi, I'm looking for the lyrics to a song sung by Janet Russell and Christine Kydd.. I believe that the title is "Fisherman's wife" but I could be wrong. Any info would be great! Thanks! fae

If 'tis th' sang I'm thinkin' o', ye can find it on their album "Dancin' Chantin'" an' I can help ye oot wi' lyrics. I'm thinkin' th' wairds micht be frae Ewan MacColl, but as I dinnae hae liner notes masel', I cannae substantiate it... jist seem tae reca' comin' across it in ane o' his sangbuiks an' bein' astoundit ance agin by th' "traditional" soond o' his wairk, guid eno' tae fool me intae assumin' maist o' MacColl's sangs are muckle aulder than th' man hissel' (God rest 'im...).

Tae wairk wi' a tub an' a scrubber an' a knife

A deid-oot fire an' a raivel'd bed,

An' awa' tae th' mussels in th' mairnin'.

Cuilionn, Cilla Fisher ('Songs of the Fishing') lists it as Trad. And a very nice job she makes of it! (The singing, of course, not the listing ...) - Susanne
