Subject: RE: Nancy Kerr & James Fagan - news From: Mooh Date: 08 May 07 - 10:58 AM James once pretty much saved a festival gig for me by treating my dislocated shoulder. Have seen them together and apart at sessions and performing and they are within my top favourite few performing artists in any genre. Love what he does with the zouk, and nobody sings better than Nancy while playing killer fiddle. Hope they have a long and happy life together. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: ADD: Gingerbread (Nancy Kerr) From: Joe Offer Date: 25 May 20 - 01:57 AM Interesting song by Nancy Kerr GINGERBREAD (Nancy Kerr) You can see me anytime you need me Warm beyond a reason, night is on the wing And you could linger like a grind of ginger Making love a season, heating up the skin You can water me with tears of hunger Like the wheat in winter, pressed into a bed Like a handprint, flour upon a black dress White against the darkness, leavened into bread We are not our gravest deeds; you are not your grieving For the bravest flower seeds as the birds are leaving As the thin glow of summer's death will turn the leaves to red May the wind blow like a lover's breath, still warm as gingerbread Dreams are kneaded into walls and windows Sheltering our sorrows, dusted and adorned With the sweetness of some kind tomorrows Sugars in completeness, nested into form We are not our gravest deeds; you are not your grieving For the bravest flower seeds as the birds are leaving As the thin glow of summer's death will turn the leaves to red May the wind blow like a lover's breath, still warm as gingerbread And while the black sky spreads its myth of thunder That we labor under, reckoned by the dead These are crude thanks, charity and food banks For our harvest splendor, pepper for our bread We are not our gravest deeds; you are not your grieving For the bravest flower seeds as the birds are leaving As the thin glow of summer's death will turn the leaves to red May the wind blow like a lover's breath, still warm as gingerbread We are not our gravest deeds; you are not your grieving For the bravest flower seeds as the birds are leaving As the thin glow of summer's death will turn the leaves to red May the wind blow like a lover's breath, still warm as gingerbread Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Nancy Kerr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h61zRemHNK8 |
Subject: RE: Nancy Kerr & James Fagan - news From: Joe G Date: 25 May 20 - 04:35 AM It's a beautiful song, Joe as are most of Nancy's. A very fine songwriter and fiddler. Her voice gives me goosebumps - or it might be ASMR |
Subject: RE: Nancy Kerr & James Fagan - news From: GUEST,henryp Date: 25 May 20 - 07:40 AM Nancy Kerr wrote Fol-The-Day-O for The Full English project; Some do sing as though the summer’s coming Though the sun is gone beyond the hill And though blossoms blow and bees are humming We'll remember cold November’s chill Fol-the-day-o, Love is sweet-o Seeds are blooming underneath our feet-o Blow the fields through city streets-o Like a Joseph Taylor melody Some do leave their gardens for to growing Others rule with bed and boundary For the walls and fences frame our knowing And the meadows grow our liberty Though the end of time is long before us We are hunted like the Oldham Hare Let us sing like it’s the fifth of August And her lover's way beyond the fair There’s a marble stone above me sleeping There’s a turtle-dove upon the wing There’s my garden grown and willow weeping Now I hear bold Joseph Taylor sing |
