Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Kim C Date: 06 Jun 07 - 03:02 PM Some days that's the best I can hope for! :-D We're just still doing our regular stuff... working, knitting, fiddling, etc. Mister's gotten to be quite the brewer lately. And, he's bought himself a German lute-guitar. And an oud, but neither one of us knows how to play it yet. |

Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 06 Jun 07 - 04:06 PM I've been doing whatever I can to make it rain. So far, I've tried washing the cars, leaving car windows open, leaving dry laundry on the line, and walking to the other end of the property without an umbrella. Under ordinary circumstances, any one of the above would guarantee a rainstorm within minutes, but not this year. |

Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: kendall Date: 06 Jun 07 - 05:05 PM I have another operation on my vocal cord coming up on the 14th, but other than that not bad at all. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: SINSULL Date: 06 Jun 07 - 05:33 PM I have a pimple on my nose SIGH! Other than that life is good. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Bill D Date: 06 Jun 07 - 05:51 PM Had a folk festival last weekend, but saw little of it 'cause Rita & I were in the crafts. But we made some money, and we avoided the worst of the rain when packing up.....so we're doin' ok. ......but now I can see all the stuff I avoided while preparing for the festival. By my calculations, it now takes 14 months to recover from an annual event. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Rasener Date: 06 Jun 07 - 05:58 PM >I have another operation on my vocal cord coming up on the 14th<< Good luck Kendall Les I am looking forward to The Southwell Folk Festival this weekend (UK), so am OK |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Sorcha Date: 06 Jun 07 - 06:20 PM Yes, Good Luck, Kendall. Sorry, Peace...just lambs quarter gone rampant in the cordwood. I save a pigeon today. What have YOU done? It either forgot it could fly or was having a great time rolling in the grass with Boudicca cat. |

Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 06 Jun 07 - 08:28 PM sore back, but that's normal, & I'm off to the (heated) pool soonish to do my normal walking-around-in-the-moving-water-to-help-strengthen-my-back thing. It's cold & raining here (good thing in a water-restricted city, as long as it doesn't just wet the pavements), and I'm also packing for a festival this weekend. Dunno why I want to spend a few nights on a very comfortable inflated mattress, with my snuggly 80% down quilt, in a tent in a town that the forecast sez. will be rainy & windy & cold. All I can say is the music & companionship better be good! sandra |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Jun 07 - 08:46 PM Hi, Kim- Things are just ducky here in the California foothills. I went on a gold mine hike with Debby McClatchy today and got caught in a downpour, but we had a good time. Found petrified wood and square nails, but no gold (and, most importantly, no rattlesnakes). My wife went to see a guru in San Francisco and missed the gold mine. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Mrrzy Date: 06 Jun 07 - 09:27 PM Weather is great, boy do I wish I would get actually hired at the job I've been temping in for months and months and months, the twins have turned 12(!!) and my leg is almost healed. Things are good or better, on average (oh, yeah, did I mention that I got to do some analyses, my favorite thing?). Nice to read everybody's news. Thanks for asking! |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Rapparee Date: 06 Jun 07 - 09:51 PM Let's see: a fire and intrusion alarm system, for one thing -- with a collection of paintings (including a 350-year-old Japanese ema) very conservatively valued at US$ 107,000; a photo collection valued at around US $15,000; about 80 or so computers and about 10 servers, not to mention a book collection with an estimated value of around US $10,000,000 I finally convinced the city that spending US$ 10K to protect it might just possibly be a Good Investment. I'll order some scrim tomorrow, but the stage lights came yesterday. And I told one of the staff she could spend a hundred bucks to fix the top of the fish tank, more if she needed but she'd have to ask me. US$2,500 to make a closet under the back stairs and to put a window in the back (employees') door. Just, you know, generally wasting the taxpayers' money. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: TRUBRIT Date: 06 Jun 07 - 11:26 PM Kendall - GOOD LUCK -- I'm thinking of you....be great to hear that lovely voice again. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: JennyO Date: 06 Jun 07 - 11:54 PM I'm with you, Sandra, the music & companionship better be BLOODY good. As I round up gumboots, raincoat, parka, extra socks, hot water bottle etc, I'm thinking I must be mad. I'm also considering a slightly bigger tarp. I put away a sopping wet tent after Snalbans (even with the giant tarp), and will probably do so again this time, but at least we would have a dry bit to sit under at breakfast time and when we aren't indoors with the crowd. You'll be glad to know that they have the evening sessions indoors, Sandra. Otherwise, I'm doing very well. Haven't had a cold or anything for ages - I am thanking Astraforte for that. Ooops - now I've jinxed myself - I'll probably get a cold now. NO I WON'T, she said, thinking positively. My car is running well (it ought to be, with the fortune I keep spending on it!). Only just enough money and not enough to save - in other words, situation normal. What have I been buying? A set of new cordless phones which I have yet to set up properly, and a lovely flame-effect heater for my fireplace space. Makes you warm just looking at it, and it does a pretty good job of heating the room, too. My folk club is on tonight. The performers are "Just a TAD and Moz". They are from the Blue Mountains, where it is colder than Sydney, and are very good. One of them, Tom, is a Spooky Man. I just hope this weather doesn't keep my audience away! I keep thinking of that poem that goes "I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in." I tend to not think about the creaky bits when I'm enjoying myself, although I find myself more and more often preferring a quiet weekend at home to anything else. I must be turning into an old fart. At least most of the time, I'm a happy one. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: katlaughing Date: 07 Jun 07 - 12:20 AM We are all doing pretty well. My constant companion, during the week, Morgan my 3.5 year old grandson:-), and I had a tea party today. We used my miniature tea set from when I was a very young child. It is a blue and white pattern from Japan. The cups are so tiny...they must hold about 30cc of tea and the teapot probably holds about four swallows. I heated about three cups of water and kept pouring it in the teapot. We used all of it! I didn't have any little cakes, so on the teeny plates we had carob-coated raisins. Morgan was so cute. He poured the tea and kept slurping and saying "yum-yum" and telling me how much fun it was. We sat there for at least an hour just having fun, drinking tea and talking. A few hours later he was asking for another tea party. It was such a special time for us. I love him so much. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: Catherine Jayne Date: 07 Jun 07 - 03:34 AM Just had a baby boy! Life is pretty good on that front. He's cute, got lots of photos to send to family and friends. Went to spend the afternoon with the new Grandparents yesterday and photo albums came out to embarrass Daddy. Harry is the spitting image of Paul. It was wonderful to see the old baby photos!! My brother got into the Royal Marines the other week. The family isn't too pleased about it but we're supporting him because it's what he wants to do. We just hope that he keeps safe. Learnt a few more songs, been singing to Harry, Daddy has been singing to Harry too!! |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: kendall Date: 07 Jun 07 - 06:17 AM I finally figured out the wiring system on our 1930 Ford. I never drive it at night, but I can't abide things that don't work. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: jacqui.c Date: 07 Jun 07 - 06:47 AM I'm looking forward to my family coming to visit in July and am already getting things organised for that. Much too early, but the excitement level is way up there right now! In between there's Old Songs and Kendall's operation next week, so a fair amount of travelling going on. Life is good - a daily visit to the beach with Seamus and good friends to go to the Thrift shops with. Trips out in Genevieve with Kendall. Lots of crochet projects to be getting on with - afghans for my wonderful grandson and step-grandchild, due in September, shawls, cell phone holders........ |

( its on the side of a concrete swimming pool ) Thanks in part to mudcat advice I got my mother's Apple stocks from 1977. It was four times the amount I was first told. Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: RangerSteve Date: 07 Jun 07 - 11:45 AM I'm adjusting well to dialysis, which is driving the social worker at the dialysis center crazy, because her job relies on people like me not adjusting. She doesn't understand that the job I was forced to retire from was getting to be too much for me to handle, and I'm making more on dissability than I was at the job. |
Subject: RE: BS: So. How's everybody these days? From: jacqui.c Date: 07 Jun 07 - 12:10 PM Steve - some social workers find it difficult to understand that sometimes they are not needed. Mudcat company excepted, of course! Donuel - I'm glad that you got those shares sorted out - Mudcat can be a real asset sometimes, can't it. |
