Subject: RE: BS: Tech: banners and pics missing From: Liz the Squeak Date: 08 Jun 07 - 05:35 PM You may have inadvertantly given yourself 'full screen' mode. I do it often. I don't know how I do it and I can't remember how to undo it, but it may be just something that simple. LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Tech: banners and pics missing From: JohnInKansas Date: 08 Jun 07 - 09:10 PM In Internet Explorer, F11 is the toggle to go to full screen or return to normal. There have been several "Trojans" under the common name of "downloader." A common feature is that they load at least part of their package at boot, and since an open file can't be deleted, they're not cleanly removed in normal Windows scans. The solution is to: 1. Turn off System Restore. These deletes old Registry/Environment copies that may contain the Trojan and would restore it at next boot. 2. Boot to Safe Mode and run your regular AV and/or AntiSpyware program in Safe Mode, and it should be able to remove known variants. 3. Reboot to normal Windows, and rerun a scan to make sure it's gone. 4. Turn System Restore back on once you're clean. If you're nervous, reboot so that System Restore will have at least one System copy safely stored. John |
