"I keep ending up at this place called "work""

Yeah the other four letter word ending in K.

I only go so that I can keep the wolf (my Bank Manager) from the door.

Still trying to figure that one out, Dave. I keep ending up at this place called "work", no matter how hard I try to avoid it.

The original posting ... in Latin ... was foreverburned into my 18 year old pea brain. I was being a buck private, going through basic training at Fort Ord, California. Whenever I went (or was called) to the orderly room, I was greeted by this message that was rather nicely painted on a sign that hung over the O.D.'s (Officer of the Day) desk.

It tended to stiffle complaints ... but I remember that I did get a few in anyway! CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson

"B*astards" is a Latin word.
I'm surprised so many of you didn't know that.
It means "Those without knowledge of the identity of a parent", although in popular culture it is interchangeable with things like "f*uckn*uckle" or "d*ipst*ick" e*tc, e*tc, e*tc.

First of all, please pretend this is in Italian!

"I may be fat, But I'm not stupid."

That, in the Italian language, was the motto of a group some of us were proud members of in the 1970s (or early '80s). The initiation into the organization was that we had to inform Odetta that she was a member! The name of the organization was The Fat Folksingers Of America. The sublime Odetta has lost a lot of weight since those halcyon days--and may leave the club any time she chooses to do that. She has never indicated she wanted out. That's probably because none of us ever had the nerve to tell her.

For some reason, since reading this thread, this important folk tidbit seemed right to post here...

Bee,

The asterisk seems to ME to mean that it's Lizzie's asterisk and she's going to risk it anyway even if some people will have the cheek think she's an ass to do so, and she will take no bum steer if people feel they have sufficient grounds to grind her down. In that case she'll just turn the other cheek and still be confident she'll still have something to fall back on.

What's YOUR interpretation?

Running Rumpant,
Severn

Me neither, Don, but I should think the asterisk stands for another 'a' and Lizzie has a VERY posh accent.

Posh type accent = 'a' as in bar.
Working class    = 'a' as in cat.

You couldn't be more wrong Bee, but it doesn't matter if that's what you think, as I know the truth, so it doesn't worry me.

Scrump has made me realise something very important and it was the fact that I *had* given in. His words have been rattling around inside me for a while now.

You are 100% right though about Scrump. He *was* a 'much liked' person and he's greatly missed too.

I've nothing to 'argue' about anymore Bee. Those people are not an issue with me any longer, their opinions and words will not silence me again, because I will no longer let them 'grind me down'

In that case, it would be spelled 'buastard', per the thread title and first post.

Brastards?
Beastards?
Boastards?
Brastards?
Bwastards?

At any rate, I've no quarrel with Lizzie, but think it a bit unsavoury to begin a discussion which from previous experience she would have to expect to become argumentative by invoking the name of a much liked and now passed on individual, thus implying that anyone disagreeing is in some way dissing his memory.

Perhaps I am wrong, Lizzie. But that is how I see this.

It's taken me a few weeks to get my head together over this, but now....I have.....

This is for you Dear Scrump.

Just before he had his accident, that's what he wrote to me over here (the title of this thread, that is) in a private message and he told me to keep on loving the music and to take no notice of those who behave as some on here do...

So...you were absolutely right Scrump...

This music deserves to be loved and spoken about and enthused over!

So....I'm back! And I'm back for Scrump and for the music....

And the B*astards can go stick their heads in a bucket of cold, rancid semolina for all I care, because if they think that I'm going to give in to them and let them 'silence' me, they've another thing coming!

Lizzie :0)
