Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 13 Dec 07 - 01:09 AM My local Post Office folks thought it was kind of funny when the "guy in the back" let me use the biggest cart in the place. It was about ten feet long. They stopped snickering when I brought it back in - full! Now, those Post Office folks are pretty cool. They are counting the days - even closer than I am - to my 1000th order! I have to take the 1000th order to a specific Post Office - with a bottle of sparkling apple cider (Champange is not allowed) so they can celebrate! How cool is that? |

I am honored to have been your first shipment. What a wonderful thread this is! I can't wait until Christmas when I can open it and make sure it's got that same wonderful Woody's flavor. Bill, I presume you've done that already -- what are your observations about the quality of the new product? Claire |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: GUEST,fred Date: 14 Dec 07 - 10:36 AM well I recieved my 12 bottles of woody's from san francisco Bills. It arrieved yesterday in good shape . now if I did not have the flu bug I might have used one but every time I go out in the cold air I start coughing so my wife made a big pot of home made chicken soup. There is something about chicken soup that helps make you better when you are sick. I am from the napa valley so when summer sets in we use quite a bit of woody's lots of outside cooking. |

Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 14 Dec 07 - 10:40 PM Thanks all. I started hearing back. Phoenix got in yesterday, and more reports are coming in today - all 100% safe deliveries! Thanks for the feedback! Claire, thanks for the nice mention - and the link. I talked to the new owner when this all began and he emphasized that he changed NOTHING. He's a Woody's fan too, so I haven't felt the need to test a jar of original Woody's yet. Never having tried the Sweet 'n Sour, my first bottle is on our chicken dinner, cooking NOW! I can let you know how it is when dinner is finished. The kitchen sure smells good right now, I can tell you for fact! Another batch of orders went into the mail tonight. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 15 Dec 07 - 12:15 AM Dinner done, here is the report on Woody's Sweet 'n Sour marinade, which I poured on chicken just before baking dinner tonight: Girlfriend - and co-owner of the house we own, so you know it's more than a casual relationship: "WOW! This is GOOD"! "I want you to make this again"! I'm also the day-to-day chef at our house. Cat: "Meow, give me MORE"! The little beggar. Son: "Yeah, this is pretty tasty. Different. Good". Teenagers don't talk much, so you have to listen when they do. Me: "Man this is good! Completely different than what I expected. I expected the sweet and sour taste of pork at a Chinese restaurant, but this isn't it. This is more like *Woody took a vacation in Hawaii* sauce"! I guess that wouldn't fit on a label. This is another unique taste. It's different from Woodys, but you can tell that it's where the roots come from. Hard to describe. On chicken, I can tell you I can boil it down to two words: Delicious and different! It's too bad I don't have much left. I got the very last of the first batch. I'm sure more is coming soon! I may have to limit the number of bottles per order, so everyone who wants to taste it - can! My friend at the Post Office, taking in box after box after box tonight from me, said "I guess there's going to be a lot of Christmas Briskets served this year, aren't there"? I smiled and said, "I think so". I can't begin to explain to you Mudcat folks just how happy it makes me, with every box I pack up, the pleasure I get from making you happy! This sure worked out well, didn't it? And it was a combination of everyone... |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 16 Dec 07 - 01:22 AM I just got my first report of a problem. One package was hit by a spike or shaft of some kind, breaking one bottle out of ten. He didn't ask for any kind of adjustment or cure, but thanked me for bring Woody's back to him. Having run my website for a number of years now, I DO have some rules. Rule #1: Nobody, absolutely NOBODY, is ALLOWED to leave my website less than 100% satisfied! Until you are satisfied beyond your expectations - I own you! Sir, your replacement bottle is already packed up and ready for shipment on Monday - Priority Mail! My dime! Thanks for letting me know of the problem! Bill |

An entire truckload is now reposed in the SFFDGear.com vaults, ensuring an uninterrupted supply! This is good, beacuse I was down to four bottles of unsold sauce! Never fear! Woody's is here! I have been a little lax about sending acknowledgements, I must confess. When I have the time - sorry to say I still have my regular day job - I tend to pack shipments! I just acknowledged a bunch of orders, and almost every reply I got was from people who had already received their shipments! Your order ships tomorrow. There is another milestone to celebrate! I just packed up - and will ship out tomorrow - my site's 1000th order!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 29 Dec 07 - 02:42 AM Well, actually, if you want to know about donating, www.SFFDGear.com has been donating money and time to the San Francisco Firefighter's Toy Program for a couple of Decades now - longer than my site has been there! I did a day of work there this year, and helped fund the program! Yes, they have been cashing my personal checks for a long time. Mudcat Friends, if your Woody's supply is low, you should take your fill right away. Just say'in. OKC, donations are never refused. You figured out what I did for the Mudcat Friends and Fans for Christmas, didn't you? You were the only one! Bill |

Bill..my Christmas gift to my family throughout the south/southwest was a forward of your SFFD website ! Best wishes to all of you this year and all to follow. Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: GUEST,OKC Date: 05 Jan 08 - 07:11 PM Bill, What's you're preferred method of "donating" for your postage cost? Paypal the same account that I payed for the sauce? Thank you again for your effort, the roast hog was wonderful and they all wanted to know my secret. Pointed them in your direction. ;-) OKC |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 12 Jan 08 - 05:36 AM OKC, as I said in the email - don't worry about it, I was just kidding. The introductory price was no accident though - It was a Christmas present to all my mudcat friends, so they could get theirs at a low price. It seriously was my gift to you! Without you, none of this would have happened at all. Bill P.S. You'll still notice that the word "gouge" isn't in my vocabulary, but some Internet others seem to know the word all too well well. If you need a word to describe mine, I prefer the use of the word "clever". I think I'm clever in the way I get your orders to you faster - and at less cost - than the others. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: GUEST,Pam Date: 14 Jan 08 - 03:23 AM I just discovered this thread, and I am so greatful for everyone's hard work to get this great product back on the shelves. I did not know so many people had the same story as I did. I am 60, and I do not remember ever having a family barbeque without using Woody's. I was very upset when it disappeared from the store shelves, and found out it was no longer being produced. I looked all over town, buying any bottles I could find. I went on line and purchased a case from an online store. Today I was fixing burgers, and realized I had only about 2 inches of sauce remaining in my last bottle! I stopped preparing the burgers, and went to my computer. I Googled Woody's Cook-in Sauce and found this thread. I was so excited to read that it was now available online, and will soon return to the store shelves. I purchased 6 bottles from www.SFFDGear.com/woodys.htm to hold me over until it appears in my store again. If I use it all before that happens, then I will order more! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALL!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: GUEST,Debbie I. Date: 14 Jan 08 - 04:24 PM I can so sleep better tonight! I have been looking for Woody's for several wks now - I am down to my last bottle. I have searched high and low in Austin and Houston, TX to no avail. I found this thread today and read the whole darn thing before I saw that Woody's is back....I was almost in tears at the beginning of the thread. I will be ordering some shortly from SF Bill.....can't wait to stock my pantry. Thanks to all of you who "saved" Woody's!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: GUEST,Guest, John Date: 20 Jan 08 - 10:55 PM Any stores restocking Woody's Cook-in Sauces yet? My first, and last, mail order was a disaster. Two broken bottles out of six that I could see inside the shipping box. What a mess! It was not worth handling broken glass. I threw out the whole shipment since the other four bottles could have broken glass in them. I'm taking the loss and eagerly awaiting the product in stores. I found two bottles in a store and a Sweet and Sour bottle in another store while traveling recently. All three bottles have the painted info on the bottles, not the stick-on labels. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: GUEST Date: 28 Jan 08 - 09:52 PM I have been looking for anywhere in Northern California to buy Woody's. Is San Francisco Bill still selling? If so how do I reach him? Holly |

Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 30 Jan 08 - 12:01 AM To: Guest John Did you order from my site www.SFFDGear.com ? The fact that there is a sticker on the bottle doesn't tell me, because we all have to put them on - it's a rule (and maybe a law) to say "refrigerate after opening". It used to be on the cap - and will be again - but until then ALL sellers of the product have to add the label until it gets back on the cap again. Richard "the Hero of Woody's" was very clear about that, and of course I respect it. (You may also be referring to the sticker label. If you got a bottle without a "refrigerate after opening" sticker, it certainly didn't come from me! If you DID order from my site, I suggest you look around it. I think I make it pretty clear that you are not ALLOWED to leave an SFFDGear.com transaction less than delighted! Not just satisfied, Delighted! I just won't have less than that, and never have! With that policy, I have made some very loyal friends and fans, as well as a solid business. I'm not about to change it now. If your order was from SFFDGear.com, send me the order number - from the shipping label - or just send me your name, address and approximate order date. I WILL COMPLETELY replace your order - including the unbroken bottles - on your say so alone. That's how I do business. NOBODY ever leaves an SFFDGear.com transaction less than delighted. Ever! Bill |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 30 Jan 08 - 12:22 AM To: Sorcha I'm expecting yet another truckload to arrive this Friday! There was a surge of orders last weekend. I was clued in that many people are planning Woody's Super Bowl Parties! I'm expecting another surge after that, when people start answering the question: "Where did you get THAT?" Being the guy to help bring Woody's back - and not being the Profit Pirate - Priceless! |

Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: GUEST,GKdugan Date: 01 Feb 08 - 10:06 AM Do another search. Asian Foods Now has it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 02 Feb 08 - 01:34 AM Asian Foods has it, at a completely outrageous price! www.SFFDGear.com has it for much less and ships via Priority Mail, so it's much faster! Of course, I'm the owner of SFFDGear.com, and a Woody's fan from way back - so I may be biased. Still, tonight's report: Yet another shipment has broken through! Another truckload of delicious Woody's has made it through, and now reposes in the vault at SFFDGear.com! When I asked my son about Woody's Bandits along the way, I asked, "Did you have to shoot or scoot"? His reply: "Both". I didn't ask any more questions! (You DO know that I'm having some fun here, right? Nobody had to shoot or scoot from anything, but details about the transfers and transportation are closely held secrets.) Anyway, JUST as I broke open my very last case of Woody's - a truckload of reinforcements arrived! It's a good thing! |
Subject: RE: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce From: San Francisco Bill Date: 02 Feb 08 - 01:45 AM By the way, you might want to keep those old bottles of Woody's, even though you have emptied them. That was about 27 years ago. I am from Dallas and I had no idea that Woody's was going to be so hard to find. I have recently moved back to Dallas after living in Houston for a long while and I thought that I was having a hard time finding Woody's because I wasn't in Dallas anymore. So when I moved back to Dallas about 4 months ago I still could not find Woody's so I came across this thread and am so greatful that there are so many other fans. I just ordered from SFFDGear.com and I'm so excited that I am going to be able to get to use Woody's again. Thank you Bill and thanks to all of the other Woody's fan. Happy BBQing! Zebbie |
