I can recall him playing for Wolves in the sixties. He was a tall player, good in the air. He went on to become the chairman of the PFA. I think he played international football for Ireland. My memory is a little blurred.

Another of the Truly Great players - very sad to hear the news. Wish there were more of his ilk around today.

RIP Doog.

I remember him shaving his hair off whilst at the Villa. We thought he was as mad as a hatter. :-)

Today you wouldn't bat an eyelid.

I had a phone call a half hour ago from Norman Uprichard the former Portsmouth and N Ireland goalkeeper, Norman was a friend of Dougans, they were to meet in Eastbourne to-morrow, Derek made the call last night, it goes without saying how shocked Norman sounded.
Uprichard spoke highly of Dougan he was the spokesman for old players who were claiming for past injuries, a lot of past players were paid peanuts and now in their old age are scraping a living.
I seen Dougan play with all of his clubs including the Belfast side Distillery, he was a great character, and a more than useful centre forward, Rest in peace Doog you brought great colour to the game.
