Subject: The BBC board...is asleep From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 11 Jul 07 - 05:44 AM It's 10.42am on Wednesday 11th July and NO-ONE has even been on it yet! Would someone pop over and wake it up...write something sparkling about all this wondrous music, put in some links and start loads of threads, tell some jokes and maybe have a Youtube thread..start up a new Myspace one, or another Folkwaves one....ANYTHING apart from letting it just sit there with NO-ONE on it!! Ye Gods And Controlling BBC Mods! What has happened over there? |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: John MacKenzie Date: 11 Jul 07 - 07:12 AM Why don't you post some of your tripe on there Lizzie? Oh no, I'm sorry you can't, you've been banned. I wonder why? |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 11 Jul 07 - 09:03 AM No Michael, I wasn't baiting..I was merely saying it was asleep. Good news is though that there've been 5 posts on there now, as of 2pm today..so that's one post an hour... What a terrible shame though, what a really terrible shame that board now stands idle and pretty much empty...Even more so when you think it's now shared with the Country music lovers.... So that's THREE genres of music on one board, Folk, Acoustic and Country..and there's one post an hour on average... What a crying shame! Still, hopefully a few Mods will be along shortly to liven it up.... |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: wysiwyg Date: 11 Jul 07 - 09:06 AM Mudcat is for Mudcat. Should I post here that no one is posting at the runnersworld board? Or the hockeyfights board? ~S~ |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 11 Jul 07 - 09:11 AM Ah yes...but you know Mudcat has had WAY more mentions on the BBC board lately, mainly because everyone's moved over here... :0) It's all part and parcel of 'Your BBC' I guess. It's so much 'ours' that they ban people, put them into pre-mod and basically would rather have an empty board, paid for by all of us, than a lively one like this. Weird! Anyways...there you go... |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: Bee Date: 11 Jul 07 - 10:11 AM Lizzie, if Mudcat doesn't serve your desires, except as a place to vent about the BBC boards, why don't you find or start a more suitable forum? Forums controlled by a corporation, be it public or private, are notorious for failing miserably to serve their users. CBC's boards became a disaster area, with more and more stringent moderation leading to collapse. In fact, most large multi-topic forums become unweildy, attract more trolls, require more mod care than is feasible for what are usually volunteers, develop more and more technical problems, and eventually implode. I've seen it many times in ten years of observation. That Mudcat survives so nicely reflects well on Joe Offer's tolerance, determination, focus, and ability to resist fancy-ing up the site with multiple cutesy features. This fact is one reason some posters here, self included, find it annoying when you come in here regularly to bemoan the state of other boards. Why not just participate in and enjoy Mudcat for what it is, when you are here? |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 11 Jul 07 - 10:24 AM Oh..sorry Bee..pardon me for talking...again. Er...I have started many other threads about other things you know. I just thought it was very sad this morning when I nipped over there to have a look, that was all. Same as I did when I heard that the fRoots board was struggling too. Perhaps they both have a lot to learn from Mudcat, as most people have come over here now. (shame we don't have smilies though!).... ;0) Just joking! Keep your hair on everybody... :0) |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 11 Jul 07 - 10:41 AM If no one is posting that probably means hardly anyone is lurking either. Unlike the Mudcat. No fun talking to yourself. I've never felt comfortable on the BBC board; it just seems so clumsy and unsociable. In fact it's so long since I've been there I've forgotten how to get there. Give us a link... |

Subject: RE: The BBC board...is asleep From: Folkiedave Date: 11 Jul 07 - 02:53 PM I am delighted the BBC board is asleep. Given the BBC's treatment of folk music in England it hardly surprises me. |
