Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Mr Happy Date: 12 Jul 07 - 11:23 AM ................hmmmmmmmmnn..........guess it'll be a little samey & tedious then......... |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Mr Red Date: 12 Jul 07 - 12:28 PM Mr Red will be observed - probably in the Stewards office. |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Mr Yellow Date: 12 Jul 07 - 12:29 PM Miss Yellow will be dancing but not stewarding. |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 18 Jul 07 - 02:25 PM I won't be stewarding - I might be a tad busy elsewhere. Just thought I would tell you that we have 337 stewards so far. I could do with another 25 and then I think I can safely say we have enough. That's almost half the total number of people that attended the first Bridgnorth festival!!! I never dreamt we would need so many.... |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Fliss Date: 19 Jul 07 - 03:54 AM Im stewarding.. plus my friend Celia and her mad greyhound that never raced. Ill ask around and see if any of my local friends would like to steward. fxx |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: muppitz Date: 19 Jul 07 - 06:22 AM I'll be whiling away my hours in T'food tent, Stewarding is not an option! ;-) muppitz x |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 19 Jul 07 - 08:05 AM Thanks Fliss. You should be hearing from Sue who books the Morris Teams in a couple of weeks. Blimey Muppitz - you get up early. I can remember the last time you stewarded before Glen stole you and your Mum from us! See you are Warwick FF. Fingers and toes crossed for good weather. |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Fliss Date: 19 Jul 07 - 10:15 AM Sandra have sent you email, Liz would love to steward. Am getting the practice in at Festival at the Edge this weekend. We have our own event in Jackfield next weekend... not folk but WWII reenactment at Maws Craft Centre. fxx |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: muppitz Date: 19 Jul 07 - 02:29 PM Sandra, the time goes by EST I think not GMT, I don't EVER get up that early! I think it was somewhere around 11am when I posted that. The last time I stewarded for you I ended up working for Glen as well, clearly a woman's work is never done! I also got dumped that weekend and after getting blind drunk on the Friday night, spent the rest of the weekend with a monster hangover. That was a very busy Bridgenorth for me! muppitz x |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 20 Jul 07 - 08:19 AM Fliss - I have sent an application form to Liz. Muppitz - screen says you posted at 06.22am. What's going on? LOL S |

Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Scooby Doo Date: 22 Jul 07 - 06:44 AM Does anybody know if Shrewsbury is flooded.I know there is plenty of time before the festival but i don't want to camp on a soiled field. Scooby |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 22 Jul 07 - 09:42 AM It's not flooded at the mo - a minor or not so minor miracle. I will keep you posted.... |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,stig Date: 22 Jul 07 - 02:07 PM Drove by early this morning, the river was high but certainly not flooding the showground. Drove by again on my way back in the late afternoon and the levels had dropped a little, it was still high but certainly not a flood threat. |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 23 Jul 07 - 04:30 PM I thought I would let you know that the River Severn in Shrewsbury peeked at 5.00pm today and the showground did not flood! |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,kab Date: 24 Jul 07 - 04:50 AM What did it see? |

Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Mr Happy Date: 29 Jul 07 - 10:27 AM Wot's latest on any unindations? |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,dictionary corner Date: 29 Jul 07 - 02:07 PM not sure about unindations, but the latest on inundations is that the site is (and was) clear. Shrewsbury escaped the floods with only a few of the lowest areas flooding, the festival blog suggests that the only issue is that one road to the site had standing water, but the site remained clean. Given the weekend we've just had, and a quick trip the Shrewsbury Council's webcam it looks like the river is back to normal. Hope this helps. |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: muppitz Date: 30 Jul 07 - 07:42 AM Saw Sandra at the weekend and forgot to ask, are dogs permitted at Shrewsbury festival? muppitz x |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Alan Date: 31 Jul 07 - 11:02 AM YES |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,kab Date: 03 Aug 07 - 05:19 AM I went over to the new Festival site on Tuesday for a survey/look-see with some of the other site stewards. Easy access if coming from M54 direction and it will be signed from well out. The site is brilliant, large, flat, good entrances exit and roadways. There is good power distribution so there should't be the need for noisy generators all over the site. There are loads of water points and proper plumbed in loos and several interesting buildings for singing sites and ad hoc happenings even if the sun doesn't shine non-stop(sunshine has been ordered though). There is lots of room for future expansion as and when required and with the efforts and vision of Alan and Sandra this will surely happen. If you are thinking of coming, stop thinking about it and book NOW before all the tickets are gone. Most importantly--What a line-up. We hope to see you all there. |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,pete Date: 03 Aug 07 - 08:06 AM Couldn't agree more, it's an exceptional line-up by anyone's standards and we can't wait for the festival, PLUS it looks like summer has arrived so all should be set for the best festival of the year. See you there! |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 03 Aug 07 - 11:44 AM I am just putting the finishing touches to the festival programme and am getting excited myself - just wish I could go to it as a festival visitor. I hope you all have a great time! |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST Date: 04 Aug 07 - 03:23 AM It's only three weeks away - I honestly can't sleep, and when I do I wake up going over every item in the logistical plan for the event. The site is looking good and we are getting fantastic co-operation from the managers and workers at the West Mids Showground. We have a new sponsor: S P Holding Services Ltd who genuinly want to get involved with our festival and have a huge amount of plant which is being made available to us. I have a feeling that our new festival home is going to work very well. All the Best Alan |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: Fliss Date: 05 Aug 07 - 03:39 AM Sounds great. Really looking forward to the festival. Is that the 'heavy plant crossing' type of plant:) See you there.. still havnt found my mudcat badge. |

Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Jim I Date: 08 Mar 08 - 05:05 PM Do stewards still pay normal ticket prices? Reason I ask is that I noticed on the web site that new stewards get selected last but have to apply first. That I understand and have no problem with - question is though, if you apply and eventually don't get accepted as a steward you then are too late to buy the early cheaper rate tickets. Bit of a bummer I would have thought. I ask purely as an academic question as I can't actually make the festival - stewarding or not - unfortunately. In fact the last time I made a Shrewsbury Festival was around 1991 - and I did steward then! Hmm! Must try harder. And can I ask Mr Happy whether you still meet in Chester on Wednesdays? I may be in town again mid April (on a Wednesday). |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 09 Mar 08 - 01:34 PM Answer for Jim or anyone else if wondering.... It would be an absolute miracle if I had enough stewards by 30th April. New applicants not accepted would be able to buy tickets at the special offer price which ends on the 1st April. So far I have 32 new stewards - all will be accepted but I won't be confirming that to individuals until early May. |
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: muppitz Date: 09 Mar 08 - 06:37 PM My post on this thread of last year applies for this year too! I missed Kate Rusby in 2007 due to slaving over a hot stove. muppitz x |

Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding? From: GUEST,Sandra Date: 12 Mar 08 - 06:07 PM no worries - I'd rather have the form with no photo than no form! |
