Caine is a consumate actor who knows how exactly to play for the camera. In short, a fine film actor. Big Phil, may it rain all day on your particular patch ... which what with all the rain and all in England, it probably is anyway. |
Subject: RE: BS: Obit Mike Reid 29/7/07 aged 67 (UK TV star) From: Richard Bridge Date: 31 Jul 07 - 09:04 AM Caine for me never achieved the suspension of disbelief, likewise Ustinov. Suchet on the other hand, within a few minutes you see only the character and not the actor. |
Subject: RE: BS: Obit Mike Reid 29/7/07 aged 67 (UK TV star) From: Rasener Date: 31 Jul 07 - 11:03 AM From the things I read and hear about Mike Reid, he was a vrey kind man and was a fantastic family man. I liked Mike as a comedian and always thought that Eastenders didn't bring his humour through and created a dour sort of character. |
Subject: RE: BS: Obit Mike Reid 29/7/07 aged 67 (UK TV star) From: Big Phil Date: 31 Jul 07 - 02:57 PM Penguin Egg, I trust you must be of USA extraction, Micheal Cain, Roger Moore legendary in UK for their portrayal of wooden acting. |
Subject: RE: BS: Obit Mike Reid 29/7/07 aged 67 (UK TV star) From: George Papavgeris Date: 31 Jul 07 - 03:25 PM A larger than life character, very good comedian, and did my favourite cover of "The Ugly Duckling" too. RIP, Mr Reid. |

Subject: RE: BS: Obit Mike Reid 29/7/07 aged 67 (UK TV star) From: Folk Form # 1 Date: 01 Aug 07 - 06:26 AM Big Phil. I am am British and come from South London, as did Michael Caine. There is nothing wooden about Caine's acting. Look at Get Carter, Alfie, Educating Rita, and The Man Who Would Be King, to name just a few. Excellent films and with excellent performances from Caine in all of them. May the floods sweep away all your DVD collection, which what with all the floods and all in England, it probably has anyway. Mike Reid never did a lot for me, I have to admit, (to get back to the what the thread is all about) but sorry to hear he is dead. |
