Subject: New Zealand Folk Songs site From: katlaughing Date: 17 Aug 07 - 06:53 PM I didn't see this in a super search, so I don't think we've had anything about it before. While looking up info on another topic, I found the Following: New Zealand Folk Song site. Looks pretty neat. Here's some more info:
Old work ballads, Maori waiata and recent songs about the Kiwi way of life. Lyrics, chords, tunes and background information about song content, songwriters and recordings. |

Subject: RE: New Zealand Folk Songs site From: katlaughing Date: 17 Aug 07 - 07:10 PM Well, I see that John Archer has been mentioned a few times for having such a wonderful site, but my super search didn't show up the site's name, so...I guess this isn't redundant!**bg** |

Subject: RE: New Zealand Folk Songs site From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 17 Aug 07 - 07:46 PM Yes, this website has been mentioned before, but I can't find it through search either. I remembered that I commented on the song Pokarekare Ana, and I was able to find a link by putting Pokarekare in Search. In the thread that came up, I found where I had linked to the folk song site (thread 81712), but I am sure that that site has been discussed before. Maori song But your mention and link are not redundant since any prior link is lost in the Mudcat swamp. Sites like this one should be listed in FAQ, if that link ever gets re-organized. |

Subject: RE: New Zealand Folk Songs site From: katlaughing Date: 18 Aug 07 - 11:18 AM Thanks, Q. Isn't it, karen? Thanks. I got a nice note from John Archer after I emailed him a compliment about his site and told him about this thread. Seems a nice fellow. Good for you, Mr. Red. |

Subject: RE: New Zealand Folk Songs site From: Mr Red Date: 18 Aug 07 - 11:29 AM The best version of Pokarkare Ana I heard was Inia Te Wiata - still available on CD and his version of the legend of Hinemoa and Tutanaki (not a song though). My neices are back in Godzone so I will no doubt be visiting in the future. |
