Subject: RE: BS: the CD is 25 years old today From: Barry Finn Date: 18 Aug 07 - 08:45 PM CD's can be considered weapons, they are not allowed in many of the country's prisons. They're afraid that the inmates will display bad taste in music & brake the CD's & use the shape edges to cut up those that sound flat. Barry |

Subject: RE: BS: the CD is 25 years old today From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Aug 07 - 11:45 PM I keep reading articles about how the CD is outmoded and will be replaced soon. I dunno. It's a nice size, and the sound is (or can be) as good as anyone could possibly want. Why not keep it around for another fifty years? -Joe- |

Subject: RE: BS: the CD is 25 years old today From: Mr Red Date: 20 Aug 07 - 07:49 AM When MP3 machines of Gb capacity (solid state) the question of medium will be sorted. The problem of retrival changes somewhat. Then there is jpg storage and then movie. Parkinson's Law was universal. Work expands to fill the time alloted for it's completion. roads, storage, spending, pub opening hours - it all fits. |
