Subject: RE: concertina tutors From: The Sandman Date: 10 Sep 07 - 04:46 PM My only experience of the mentioned anglo tutors is the Irish Concertina by Mick Bramitch,of which, I know people, who have found it useful. I do know that my tutors give more detailed information, about song accompaniment, than any others I have seen.Dick Miles |

Subject: RE: concertina tutors From: The Sandman Date: 11 Sep 07 - 07:21 AM personally ,I dont think, the concertina works as well as the guitar on you tube as regards tutorials. With a guitar you can see clearly what the fingers are doing, when it comes to the English concertina,it becomes much more difficult to photograph, the fingers moving quickly from one side to the other. however anything that promotes concertinas is good.http://www.dickmiles.com |

Subject: RE: concertina tutors From: The Sandman Date: 03 Oct 07 - 09:35 AM I have found adapting existing fiddle ornamentation useful. When transposing it to the English ,adjust any cuts etc, so that you are cutting on the other side of the instrument, trebles are best done note above rather than same note, though I do occassionally use same not trebles,Useful books are Matt Crannitch IRISH FIDDLE,Geoff Bowen,FolkFiddle.Dick Miles |
