I am hoping that some of you can help us spread the word on this concert.

On Saturday October 13th at 8pm, the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club is honored to present Scottish singer EMILY SMITH in concert at the Fair Lawn Community Center in Fair Lawn, NJ.   Opening the evening will be our special guest DONAL CLANCY.

This concert will be Emily's first performance in New Jersey. In 2002 Emily was named Young Traditional Performer of the Year by the BBC and in 2005 she won the USA Songwriting Competition. She has a glorious voice and has a gift for interpreting song. Emily has released two CD's in her young career, and a third will be released next year.

We are also extremely excited to announce Donal Clancy will open the evening. The son of Liam Clancy, Donal has gained a strong reputation for his guitar skills and currently tours with the band Danu.   Donal has released his first solo CD, and this performance will be a rare solo appearance for Donal.

Ron, is there a "listen again" feature on Traditions so I can hear the show with Emily? I didn't see one but I may just be overlooking it. I missed the interview,and she's one of my favorites. Just brilliant, and what a sweetheart.

Unfortunately we cannot archive our shows.   I will be rebroadcasting the interview on my show "The Session" which airs Fridays from noon to 1pm Eastern Time. The rebroadcast will be on Friday October 12.

I hope folks will give Emily and Donal a try even if they're not familiar with their work. Emily Smith has, IMO, one of the finest and loveliest voices around and has proven herself as a songwriter as well. Her husband Jamie McLennan backs her brilliantly on fiddle, guitar and flute. If only I didn't live several states away!

We are near a train station! :)

I wish you could be with us HouseCat, and thank you for the kind words.   I'm hoping some of our friends in NYC might take advantage of the train station that is near our new venue. It is a 1/2 mile walk through a safe residential neighborhood, and trains leave the Radburn station in Fair Lawn each hour. They connect to Secaucus Junction, which is a short train ride to NYC.

Another added benefit that comes with our new venue!   Comfortable theater seats, great acoustics, and trains! :)

Sounds so lovely, Ron...but I'm in Alabama! I'm hoping we can host them in a house concert next year. We did get to hear your interview with Emily on Traditions today. We really enjoy what you do, thank you for it!
