Look in You-Tube and enter St Chartier 2007, there is a 1 min clip called opening dance. This is a well played 3-part Polka and I'd love to know if any afficionados know what it's called, and maybe who is the accordeonist playing -were any of you there? As it is heard it appears to be in C min but I taped it and slowed it down to B min which works well on my melodeon.

I know the tune but like many of the tunes I know I don't know what it's called!

I love St Chartier and watching the people dance made me wish I was there again.

Well done Animaterra - I realised in re- watching the danse it's a schottische , but the speed is a bit too quick, which makes me think the film's speeded up -as I mentioned before, which is possibly why the tune seems to be in C min. I didnt know that digital cameras could change speeds. It's a shame there isnt a lot more of the same -I wonder what happens about copyrights ?

I have played at this Festival (with Rosbif) and anyone interested in French Traditional Music should go if they get a chance.It is much bigger now than when I went there,I noticed a few concertinas as well, there was only mine when I attended.The combination of concertina and Hurdy Gurdy created a bit of interest at the time. What did impress me was the wonderful instruments on sale.Fantastic Hand made Melodions,Hurdy Gurdy,s and French Pipes.The dance floors were a bit crowded then, but it did not put me off.
A memorable week.
