Subject: RE: Prayer request -Obit- MaineDog's wife-Gail 10-6-07 From: wysiwyg Date: 07 Oct 07 - 10:16 AM Jim, thank you for the privilege of sharing this blessed time with you. Be good to yourself for the long period of saying all the goodbyes that will come up for you, and know that our Lord holds you all in the palm of his hand-- in times you can feel Him and times when you don't. I hope that in the days to come, Mudcat will be a place where you can talk about Gail, and help us to know her as you did. We'll be right here for you, any time. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: Prayer request -Obit- MaineDog's wife-Gail 10- From: MaineDog Date: 15 Oct 07 - 08:48 AM Last Friday we had Gail's Memorial service. It was well attended by dancing and music friends, and church people. We started out with old, somber Baptist hymns and ended with some very upbeat music that Gail wrote. Mudcat was represented by "Guest Julia", as well as me. I need to mention that Gail got her final wish. She waited for all her children to assemble and be blessed. They each took her hand, and announced "I'm ---, and I'm here to receive my blessing!" Five minutes after completing the blessings, she was gone. Jim |

Subject: RE: Prayer request -Obit- MaineDog's wife-Gail 10- From: folk1e Date: 17 Oct 07 - 07:39 PM i am finding this difficult to say ...... but you and your family have all my best thaughts and wishes! Even though I said nothing whilst she was living you are in my thaughts now. It is difficult because I will be in your shoes soon enough as my wife has "the big C" and treatment will only put off the inevitable! We can only trust that it is in Gods will that it is so! I believe that the measure of our words and deeds is the love we leave behind us, and if so your wife has had a full life and this should be celebrated! All the best Dave |

Subject: RE: Prayer request -Obit- MaineDog's wife-Gail 10- From: MaineDog Date: 06 Jan 08 - 12:04 PM Well, it's been three months now. I'm over the shock of it, but I think that the "why?" question may never be answered. I'm finding that the housework and chores are much less bad than I expected, when done to my level of perfection (fairly low), and the dog is easily managed except on long trips when he has to be kept in a kennel. I'm gradually training him to stay loose at home without doing damage, so far so good as long as I don't leave anything edible around. Even so, he's only good for about 6 hours. I have been doing more music and dancing, which is good, and I'm looking up old friends that I lost track of over the past 4 years. This afternoon is a music-potluck that is an annual event, and the weather is ok, so I am off to play. MD |
Subject: RE: Prayer request -Obit- MaineDog's wife-Gail 10-6-07 From: SINSULL Date: 06 Jan 08 - 12:48 PM We will start our monthly Song Circle for 2008 this month. Early afternoon - 2PM - on the fourth Saturday. Beds available here and there. Afternoon buffet and probably pizza and salad later. Haven't really thought it through. But there will be good music and good friends. If the puppy is safe around people and other dogs, he is welcome too. Mary |
Subject: RE: Prayer request -Obit- MaineDog's wife-Gail 10-6-07 From: Bee Date: 06 Jan 08 - 03:15 PM I'm glad you're getting out with people, MD. My experience with big young dogs is they do calm down... at about age four, when they are officially mature. Our old girl was rather exhausting those early years, had more energy and more interest in exploring where she shouldn't than I could sometimes cope with. And then, like magic, she hit four and turned into a wonderful obedient loving creature, a delight to walk with and live with, and a great comforter in times of sadness. |

Subject: RE: Prayer request -Obit- MaineDog's wife-Gail 10- From: MaineDog Date: 15 Sep 08 - 07:44 PM Hello friends, The latest news is that Gail has been put to rest in her favorite cruising area -- Penobscot Bay, just east of Rockland. Family and friends went out on a chartered ketch, on a relatively calm day, and we had our final earthly parting. The next event is going to be more fun. We're having a memorial dance for her on Nov 16 in East Concord NH, that's a Sunday, from 7:30 to 10:30. All of Gail's friends are invited to dance contra, English Country, and Scottish Country, and those who know how may also play in the band. More details later Jim |
