Girlfriend's father is becoming incontinent and doesn't like the nappies (daipers) that are the normal fair. Girlfriend thinks that you can get something a little smaller and just for the urine.
What do racing cyclists wear - though Pa is not at all athletic - in his 90's - which is part of the problem.

any UK catters with any product/brand advice please.

Road cyclists just peel up the pant leg and pee, from right on the bike as needed or getting off the bike if a friendly bush is available.

Pads that button onto elastic straps is what many folk do. In the US they come with one new pair of straps per package of pads. If the phys is not "apt" for straps (as they come or by making longer straps), a pad-only rig can be made thusly:

Take a pair of sturdy drawers and sew a pair of the straps' large buttons inside, in the back. Sew another pair in the front, down lowish. Button the pads onto these. As the drawers are pulled up the pad is pulled into place. A pair of plastic pants may have to go on, over top, to minimize leaks.

The reality is, though, leaks are going to happen and you'll need to protect upholstery and bedding with washable, waterproofed covers. Look around iunt he baby department and see what they have there, that you can make larger versions for. There are also flat, disposable, water-absorbing pads (I think in the US it's called a Chux), but they get expensive real fast as well as not always staying put where you want them. Babies get flannelized plastic sheeting in their small sizing, and your local medical supply house may have a larger version. Or you can go with toweling over plastic mattress protectors.

Try a large supermarket (Tesco, I think I've seen them) - there's usually a section near the "feminine hygiene" with Tena pads - assorted thicknesses / absorbencies.
I'm sure I've seen ones for blokes next to the women's ones, but not being of the male persuasion, I haven't investigated.

At the age in question, tho', he should be able to get the necessary, delivered, via the NHS. see his GP.

Hope this helps
Paws

You can get a catheterish thingy which goes over the outside of the penis like a thick condom. This can be attached to a bag. It is the cleanest and least intrusive piece of equipment going for men. Local chemist should keep them in stock and the NHS should pay for them at his age.
My Dad tried them but kept fiddling with them so they didn't work for him. Maybe your dad will be luckier.

I know I am going to catch hell for asking this but...doesn't he have to maintain a hard-on to keep the condom in place?

At 92 he can wear pants but nappies like the NHS offer he dislikes.
At his age I think he has earned the right to be picky.
I don't like Ebay so much - but thanks for the help.

vectis refers to penile sheaths and leg bags. These are self adhesive and can be a solution to urinary incontinence. There are many different makes and they come in various sizes. Your practice nurse or pharmacist should be able to advise. I would advise using self adhesive sheaths as opposed to ones with seperate adhesive strips because they are more fiddley. The leg bags are held on with straps or a stocking type garment and can be thigh or calf worn and have a simple tap for emptying.

Boots make a disposable pant called Stay Dry. Maybe these will help.

I had already posted this story on a thread on malapropisms, but couldn't resist copying it here:

Some years ago, my mother in law, charged with the task of buying some incontinent underpants for an elderly relative, went into a chemist (drug store), marched up to the counter and said to the shop assistant "do you sell continental pants here?"

Rog.

Sinsull - there is a condom-like device for incontinent men that can be worn attached to a waist belt - kinda like the old menstruation belts women had to wear before self-adhesive pads came out., they are referred to as condom sheaths or condom catheters to differentiate from catheters that must be worn internally (OUCH!). The condom sheath catheter has a tube that goes to a collection bag which is either strapped to the leg or adhered to the leg.

A better option would be what are called "male incontinence shields" - they are a shield designed to cover the area of the men's brief likely to become wet if the man has an accident or light seepage of urine. Here in the USA, the manufacturer called TENA makes a good male shield. They used to call their product SERENITY but are changing over all their shields to the name TENA.

I live in a neighborhood with a large elderly population and a number of men living with advanced AIDS. I've had to shop for these things a often as a favor. If it's only urine that's the issue, a male incontinence pad should be fine. if the seepage is constant, a condom sheath catheter and bag is better.

Search on those terms on Amazon UK and you should bring up what you need

Well, I did an Amazon UK search and apparently, the preferred term is "bladder protection" - as it turns out Tena for Men exists for you in the UK as well - I have bought these for men I know and they tend to like them. best of luck - there are a few different absorbancy levels - buy what you think you need and then one heavier as well. best to have a choice.

My dad used the Tena for men whilst having problems after an op. He now just uses them if travelling any distance.

By going onto the Tena website you can get samples of such things - so he can try them without having to spend too much.

SCA Hygene Product UK ltd
Southfields Rd
Dunstale
LU6 3EJ
0845 30 80 80 30

is the address for "Tenna" in the U.K.
NHS provide this free via GP!

There are a range of "pads" available from "sanitry pad" size up to Full XXXL the thickness is different as well. Hospitals tend to use the larger but thin size ....... these are not obtrusive
all the best
Dave

Thank you for the information.
Pa has seen a sample now of pants, but getting him to wear them - all I can say is I am glad it is not my chore to convince him.
