Subject: BS: You tube is dead to me From: Donuel Date: 19 Oct 07 - 01:01 PM Almost anything I try to see anymore on you tube is now removed due to mega corporate copywrite claims. The 15 second clip owned by a mega corp is now going to get milked for every cent elsewhere and as a result we all stop looking. |

Subject: RE: BS: You tube is dead to me From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Oct 07 - 03:01 PM Now, Donuel, you can still listen to this Barry Sisters Medley and lots of other commercial recordings. What is being deleted that's causing you consternation? I thought YouTube had a deal with the music corporations that allowed posting of at least some copyrighted stuff. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: BS: You tube is dead to me From: katlaughing Date: 19 Oct 07 - 03:43 PM I've not had a problem, yet. Washington, Oct 16: Media companies can now block their copyrighted video contents that were loaded onto YouTube without seeking any prior permission. "Video ID service, which has been beta-tested by Disney and Time Warner, will give media companies the option of blocking their copyrighted content from the site or requesting that YouTube split advertising revenue with them," Variety.com reported. |

Subject: RE: BS: You tube is dead to me From: Donuel Date: 19 Oct 07 - 05:29 PM If I want to see the SNL clip of Fred Thompson or a Daily show segment or a Letterman top 10 access is denied and is explained that it is removed due to copywrite law. Frankly I never really understood fair use but now things are vanishing as fast as a coproration pays to have them removed. |

Subject: RE: BS: You tube is dead to me From: JohnInKansas Date: 20 Oct 07 - 12:15 AM Perhaps some clarification of what's happening at YouTube? YouTube unveils anti-piracy protection Owners of copyrighted video can block their material from appearing It appears that YouTube is only "cooperating" with those who don't want their material posted. It seems to REQUIRE that the ones claiming copyright have to provide samples and formally request that the specific samples submitted be blocked. (See also thread: Comcast blocks Users - and see the post immediately before the Comcast link for a chuckle.) John |
