I've just spent 45 minutes digging a hole to bury a cat who didn't belong to me but who I was privileged to call my friend. His name was Figaro, he was small, athletic, and the most intelligent cat I have ever known. He was always impeccably dressed in his tux and one expected him to say: "Bond. Figaro Bond." He was the kind of cat you spoke to as if he were another human being and he could hold up his end of the conversation. He had extensive lymphoma and died at the age of eleven, all too brief a life for such a vibrant creature. I will miss him greatly. He owned one of my best friends and as much as I will miss him, she will even more.

RIP, my friend.

Ah Ranger, I'm sorry. We have a tuxedoed boy ourselves and he is something special as well. Then again I think they all are. "Roamin" is Karen's boy. He puts her to sleep everyday and waits patiently for Mom to come home.

We were at the pound to do the paperwork on another cat, a kitten at the time, named Bixby. Karen couldn't help herself and went wandering amongst the others at the shelter. Roamin was full grown and the workers there said that they just loved him to death but he was very unresponsive to visitors......until Karen showed up. It was as though he'd been waiting for that one special person and when he saw Karen he knew he'd found her. Karen had an immediate bond with Roamin as well, a match obviously meant to be.

We'll give Roamy and extra hug and scratch in memory of Figaro. I know you will miss him.

Some cats have really notable character. They are sorely missed when they depart by those who knew them well.

Ranger, Not the little Black and white from across the road!!1 that lives with the Big Stupid Dog? Oh I hope not, he was an absolute Gentleman (and Nut case) I hope it was not him, but offer my condolences and best wishes either way to what ever and who evers cat he was, I like the name too, "Largo al Factotem".

Sorry, Micca, but that is indeed the cat. Kathy is, understandably pretty upset. We buried him two hours ago.

I met Figaro only once. I was there to let Joey (the world's dumbest dog) out for a run when a dapper little black and white showed up and tried to get past me into the house. I didn't know that Kathy had cats so I shooed him away.
Well! He stormed past me in a huff at the back door, went into the kitchen and up on a shelf where his food awaited him. Boy did I get a look.
A handsome kitty who deserved to live many years longer. Sorry Tami and Kathy.

He sounds like he was a charmer. I have one of those, different color, but same kind of personality. He inserted himself into our household many years ago and is still the cat in charge.

So sorry for you and your friend, Tami. They don't have to share our homes to share our hearts. My Mara Jade was one of those "larger than life" kitties, too. Broke my heart to say goodbye to her, but I was grateful for the 13 years we shared.

I'll be sure to give Madmardigan, Mikey and Sheldon extra love tonight in honor of Figaro.

We have met several black and white cats, who are always cats of wonderful character. The last one has been immortalised on our wedding rings - ask me when you see me!
We will give our tortoiseshell an extra cuddle tonight - she deserves it, anyway, having been rather freaked out by my husband transforming himself into an Ogron to scare the trick or treaters at the front door. Poor Cleo.
But condolences on the loss of Figaro Bond - let's hope he's finding life sweet up in the great Cattery in the Sky.

Many, many condolences. We lost our beautiful, intelligent red tabby Merlyn in 1996 (when he was an old pussycat) and still miss him dreadfully. He often wanted to come for a ride in the car, front paws on the dashboard, looking out through the windscreen enthusiastically, thoroughly enjoying himself - came when he was called - talked all the time, telling his tales - loved everybody. Some cats are real people, they really are. RIP Figaro.

Ah...thanks for telling me of this, Micca. Puir little Figaro. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I've lost too many over the years and it never gets easier. My Trys has spent the past two weeks in bed with me, trying to lie on my chest to heal me up...he can't understand why his 13 lbs don't help mommy breath when she's has pneumonia! They are such loves.

May your memories help you through the loss.
