I see Martin Groswendt is among those appearing at Eisteddfod-NY November 16-18. Are any of you familiar with his music? Is he a must see? How is his stage presence? What can you tell me?
His appearance is listed on http://www.eisteddfod-ny.org

Fellow performer of high talent and sometimes bandmate Jeff Davis speaks very highly of him - that's the extent of what I know about him, as I haven't seen or heard him myself.

It is actually - MARTIN Grosswendt, and he's a great guitarist and also plays the Cajan box with the band from Rhode Island (whose name I forget - or is Magnolia?)

Martin Groswendt????

Harmonica player on the album "Good Though" by U. Utah Phillips. I believe I saw him in 1974 when Phillips came through the Ithaca, Oswego, Auburn, New York area. I remember him as very good at what ever he picked up

Actually, Grosswendt, played dobro on Utah's first album. Saul Broudy was playing harmonica with Phillips around that time, but didn't record with him. Grosswendt(who I haven't heard in over 30 years)was a great musician who I'm sure has only gotten better over the years.

Mark, you are correct about Saul Broady! I have some prized tapes of Utah and Saul that the late Fred Holstein and I made of their shows at the Earl Of Old Town in Chicago--1972.

Saul is a sometime Mudcatter who has posted to several threads over the last ten years.

Martin's a very good musician and well worth seeing. A few years back, I was on the Champlain Valley Festival program committee. We hired the trio of Martin, Reed Martin, and Howie Bursen to perform. They were great. Talk about some magnificent banjo playing...

Actually, Grosswendt, played dobro on Utah's first album.

Actually, that was Utah's second album (but his first on Philo). His first album on Prestige, years before, was "Nobody Knows Me" had such hits as "Yuri Gagarin."
