Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Tequila Sheila From: wysiwyg Date: 23 Dec 09 - 11:19 AM Here's t'other. I believe there are videos of each at YouTube. TEQUILA SHEILA (Davis / Silverstein) Bobby Bare - 1980 CHORUS: Pour me another tequila, Sheila. Take off that red satin dress. 'Cause I crossed the border, And I beat the dealer for all of that gold in Juarez. I feel just like ol' Pancho Villa, Sheila, And I've got the pesos to spend, So pour me another tequila, Sheila. And lay down and love me again. No I can't tell you about it. Don't mind the gun by my bed, But I feel kind'a naked without it, And it eases the fears in my head. I never have trusted in woman, But Sheila I trust you tonight. So pass me the salt and a lemon, Bend down and blow out the light. CHORUS Sheila I'm hearin' your heartbeat, But I'm hearing footsteps outside. The courtyard is crawlin' with them Federales And Sheila, there's no place to hide, Now I don't know who could have tipped 'em, Nobody knew it but you, But I never have trusted the women, Sheila here's what I'm going to do. Yeah! CHORUS Pour me another tequila, I'm goin' ta put on your red satin dress You put on my clothes, And you go out and face the dealer. And Sheila I wish you the best. I never trusted in women, Sheila I trusted you tonight. So pour me another tequila Sheila, And I'll run for the border again. Yeah! Pour me another tequilla, Sheila, As I ride for the border tonight. Subject: Lyr Add: Tequila Sheila From: wysiwyg Date: 23 Dec 09 - 11:17 AM Apparently there are two very different songs with this title. One hilarious one is on radio now, and it was so funny and well-written I thought I'd pass it on. TEQUILA SHEILA Artist: Flynnville Train CHO: She was sippin' on a margerita, She was holdin' down a corner stool, She dialed me in with her instamatic grin, You know I thought she thought that I was cool. I have to say I had me a good time, Yeah even with the shape I'm in, Ah, She led me astray Una Mas a Jose'-- Tequila Sheila strikes again. 1. Woke up in a motel bed, Frieght train runnin' through my head, Minus my wallet, my watch and my boots, The only thing she left me was my birthday suit! I faintly remember a-havin' a ball, But the last thing I really recall... is CHO Just then came a knock at the door, Cops bust in, throw me down on the floor, Said my ol' truck was in a robbery, And I look just like the fella in the passenger seat. I thought the judge would understand, So I told him ya'll, when I raised my hand... CHO Ahoooohoohoo Tequila Sheila strikes again Ahoooohoohoo Tequila Sheila strikes again 3. They found me guilty of a crime, Now I'm eatin' bologna, doin' 11-29, Sharin' a cell, with a fella named Miguel. I asked what he was in for, He told me, Senor... Subject: RE: Lyr Req: pass the tequila, sheila From: Bat Goddess Date: 05 Nov 07 - 06:49 PM I've been singing it for over 15 years (and referring to it as a "south of the border ballad") with a few variations on the above lyrics. Knew Shel Silverstein wrote it, but never ran into a recording. Since my random access memory is getting more and more random, I'm not certain who, exactly, I stole it from, but a likely candidate is Judy Cook. I finish it with a chorus of "la las" (ending with a flat one) but I may have stolen that idea from her, too. I just love the line "I never thought you were a squealer, Sheiler"... Linn (chorus) Pour me another tequila, Sheila Take off your red satin dress. I crossed the border and I beat the dealer For all the damned gold in Juarez. I feel like old Pancho Villa, Sheila A fast horse and gun is my friend. So pour me another tequila, Sheila Lay down and love me again. No I can't tell you about it. So just leave the gun by the bed. I feel kind of naked without it, But it eases all the fears in my head. Pass me the salt and the lemon And bend down and blow out the light. I never much trusted a woman before, But, Sheila, I trust you tonight. [ I added, spoken, "Big mistake"] (chorus) Sheila, I'm feeling your heart beat, But I can hear footsteps outside. The courtyard is full of them damned Federales. Sheila, there's no place to hide. I don't know who could have led them here 'Cause nobody knew it but you. [point to someone in audience] I never thought you were a squealer, Sheiler Now there's just one thing to do. So, pour me another tequila, Sheila. I'll put on your red satin dress. And you'll put on my clothes And go out and face the dealer. Sheila, I wish you the best. [wave] I feel like old Pancho Villa, Sheila, A fast horse and gun is my friend. Pour me another tequila, Sheila, (Pour me another tequila, Sheila, Pour me another tequila, Sheila,) I'll cross the border again. La la la lala, etc. |
