It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! She's a blanket of white here this morning (here = Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada).

I had to shove the back door open against a small drift of wet snow. I an actually gonna have to shovel this time.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr.

What's it like where you are?

24F and sunny this morning in midcoast Maine, gnu. The ground is still soft enough for me to plant bulbs, but freezing rain is expected for Monday.

WIMP! WUSS!! We've already had three falls of s**w! A total of 12 inches! And right now it's 40F and drizzling cold rain -- at the airport, down in the flatland. Up here on the hill (about 5,000 ft.) it's 35 and spitting rain and snow...and I have to walk a mile down to the parking lot and get my wife's car.

LATER today, when much of the bad stuff has passed.

In Juneau, Alaska, we had our first proper snowfall last week although it didn't last long. Downtown Juneau measured 4.2 inches; at the weather station itself they got a bit more than 5.

The ground isn't frozen yet. Being at sea level slows things but being in northern latitudes hastens them. We are a conflicted people.

My Cairn terried quite appropriately loves snow. She was out there laughing in the snow, tunnelling and rolling; she's not nearly that fond of rain.

"The First Noel..."

Oh, of course. I was temporarily oversome by all the pink around me at Sinsull's last night.

Thanks, gnu!

Mix of clouds and sun this morning in western Colorado. The valley temps will climb to the sixties, then back to the thirties at night with several more boring days of sunshine and few clouds. We need the moisture, so I'd welcome rain or snow!

A fair way off frost here in Kent UK, I've put off cutting down my daturas and storing them overwinter, and putting a selection of cuttings on the windowsill for next year, until next weekend.

Walking the dog down Rock creek park is full of deer ready to bed down for the night. The crickets give the forest a jungle beat. But now the first freeze has come and the woods are silent. Just dry leaves crinching beneath the paws of the dog and a stag who is standing guard over the fawn.

Gorgeous here, today. Clear blue sky (except for a few scattered clouds on the other side of the mountains.....currently 38 degrees....great day for a walk in the mountains, followed by band practice, followed by a birthday jam session....followed later by a bowl of steaming hot Taco Soup. Looks like a great day all together!

We had some cool weather a couple of weeks ago, so I put a blanket over the tomatoes one night in case of frost. False alarm. It warms and cools relative to North Texas in November, so it isn't like my native Pacific Northwest, and I miss the cool feel of fall and the spicy autumn smell of wet decaying leaves and evergreen needles commingled on the ground.

Yesterday I mowed, hopefully for the last time this year. It is still t-shirt weather. Today is a little drizzly, and it may be progressively wetter during the week coming up. I am hoping to put a new roof on the house and paint, so we have our fingers crossed that the current conditions blow over and we're back to dry warm (mid-70s to mid-80s) weather for a little while longer.

I've mowed for the last time and put the sprinkler system to beddy-bye for the winter. The irises are planted and today I'll drain the hoses.

It's currently 34.9F outside.

There are various Veteran's Day activities today, including a free dinner at the Golden Corral restaurant, but I think I'll pass on them and toast my absent friends this evening with some Irish Redbreast.

Right now I think I'll clean ma gun and dream of Galveston....

We're in the lower 40's(F) here in southern Maine with the freezing rain maeve mentioned supposedly on the way just in time for the drive home. Then we're back up into the 50's the rest of the week. Looks like I'm going to make good on my threat not to turn on the heat until Thanksgiving. :-)

Hehe... we had Thanksgiving a while back (it's the second Monday in Oct in Canuckville). -9C tonight. Most of the snow is still here, BUT, it's NB, and we expect 14C Thursday.

Hi Gnu!

A light frost last night in Aldershot, then rain, so about 2-3C. But why the hell are the council gritting(Rock salt) the roads already?! It just wrecks your car and does bugger all else!

Rant over!..............And rest!!

Just another grey November day down by the dockyard at the moment.

Wassail!! Chris

They could us fine gravel, as is done out here. Instead of your car rotting away from salt corrosion you replace your windshield every year.

And paint chips. Fine gravel (or sand)... here, it's only used when the temp is below about -15 to -20. We can't use just grit, unless we can use yours after ours runs out. Besides, we have more salt than we can use from the potash mines. Say, since we send SO much potash to The States, maybe you could send back some sand and gravel.

Back to our regularly scheduled program.... it's 16!! Not a flake remains. I have the windows open and I am warm from housework and cooking a big beef stew.
