All electric resistance heaters heat at 100% efficiency. A physically bigger heater gives more even heat over a wider area,

I would prefer Gas Leadfingers ,but there is no gas down our lane.
Thanks Dick. There is only about £100 difference in price so if a Radient one is better, then that looks to be the one to go for.I just wondered if anyone had experienced any difficulties with this type of cooker.

We have a halogen hob - great. Needs careful cleaning, but looks great and works well. Halogen is much faster than the other radiant rings; ours has one halogen ring for fast boiling.

Mum had one of the earliest ceramic hob tops. She had to buy special absolutely FLAT bottomed glass/ceramic cook pots to use on it. The burner areas never yellowed at all.

I understand the newer ones don't need the special pots and DO turn yellow. It has to be cleaned with a special cleaner...something similar to 'Soft Scrub' or it will scratch.

Mom loved hers. I'd never have one because I can't use my cast iron on it. I also 'inherited' all mom's cast iron when she bought her stove!

They cook "evenly". They clean up nicely... I use Cerama Bryte.

I love gas but the hobs here now are expensive as gas is just in,

My old gran was never the same after she had all her teeth out and a new gas stove put in.

Druther have gas, but a gas cooktop would cost about US$1,000 and the same to have the gas hooked up FROM THE BLOODY BASEMENT!!! So I cook on electric coils.

had a cemramic hob when we moved into our house. It drove me bonkers (mad), all our pans were for gas hobs and useless on ceramic hobs. I sold that oven and hob and had a gas hob and electric oven. Fab! Hapis Iawn.
