Subject: BS: Painting on 4 or more levels From: Donuel Date: 13 Jan 08 - 12:15 PM I have been creating a style of painting on the inside and outside of glass, plastic etc in multiple layers. While Maxfield Parrish made many layers seperated by sanded varnish, some of my layers float 2 to 6 inches above or behind the main surface. Putting a bent bell shaped curve of a mirror behind a glass painted on each side I have gotten some interesting effects such as a portriat reflecting a different expression from behind. I have used this style on undersea themes, space, landscape, wild life and visual metaphors for freedom, joy etc. Of course this schtik is only as good as its execution but early animation used this technique for their backgrounds appearing to move slower than the forground. Like an opal it is difficult to show the changability in still photography. I'm gonna hafta figure out how to post video on you tube...it can't be that hard , some of you do it ;^} Here is the most simple and rather crude version of glass layers with only 3 layers depicting: quasar black holes ring nebula and and floating planet that could count as a fourth layer. http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb1.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb2.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb3.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb4.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb5.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb6.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb7.jpg ps the plant is plastic |
Subject: RE: BS: Painting on 4 or more levels From: Donuel Date: 13 Jan 08 - 12:22 PM What crappy links hmmm why these identical ones work and the other s don't is a mystery. http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb2.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb3.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb4.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb5.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb6.jpg http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/neb7.jpg |

Subject: RE: BS: Painting on 4 or more levels From: JohnInKansas Date: 13 Jan 08 - 12:34 PM Donuel - I don't get anything at any of the links - either post. All go to (apparent redirect?): http://donuelhakman.angelfire.com/doc/images/rloadblock.jpg John |
Subject: RE: BS: Painting on 4 or more levels From: Amos Date: 13 Jan 08 - 02:27 PM The ISP is putting up a road block -- but if you paste the links into your browser they come through. Test Neb5 That one seemed to work okay. Test Neb4 To get to the rest either just change the final number of the URL or copy and paste the text of D's linbks above into your address bar. Worked on Safari anyway, despite the roadblock. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Painting on 4 or more levels From: Bee Date: 13 Jan 08 - 09:26 PM Even that doesn't work for me - sorry Donuel, it sounds like an interesting technique, I would like to see the pics. |
Subject: RE: BS: Painting on 4 or more levels From: Sorcha Date: 13 Jan 08 - 10:13 PM None of them, or the copy/paste work for me either. I've been having weird troubles all day. Some links work, some don't. It's totally irrelevant to this thread, but I can't get to the Duke Sheet music site, the Levy site, or any link from Google (which I can still get to), and I'm not getting the Mudcat Supersearch to work either. My ISP seems to be going up and down like a whores drawers, but now I'm not sure that is what it is.....weird. Aliens? |
