Subject: BS: Premier Macdonald top ten list From: GUEST,HiLo Date: 13 Jan 08 - 12:45 PM Rodney MacDonald, the fiddlin Premier of Nova Scotia, has sent a top ten list to Dave Letterman. Top ten reasons why Dave should visit Nova Scotia. It is really quite funny and it so refreshing to see a Polotician who can express his sense of humour.Rodney seems very proud of his home Prov, but is also able to express his pride with humour and fun. I do wish other politicians could lighten up a bit as well. Way to go Rodney. Anyone else have comments. you can find it on youtube by entering Rodney's name |

Subject: RE: BS: Premier Macdonald top ten list From: bobad Date: 13 Jan 08 - 01:12 PM HALIFAX - Premier Rodney MacDonald's Top 10 list of reasons why late-night talk show host David Letterman should visit Nova Scotia: 10. Nowhere near Thunder Bay, Ont., so you won't be harassed by locals constantly requesting, "Tell Paul I said, 'Hi."' 9. Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport No. 1 in passenger satisfaction. Customs staff give famed 10-finger patdowns. 8. Chance to establish a new home office in Balls Creek. 7. Triple-bypass surgeries are free for everyone. 6. No matter where you are in Nova Scotia, you're within 30 minutes of the sea. Thirty-five if it's rush hour. 5. You can make a blueberry grunt. 4. Mug for the camera at the roadside sign for Shag Harbour. 3. You haven't lived until you've camped on the world-famous Cabot Trail and been chased by a love-struck moose. 2. Two words - Lockeport Greasepole. 1. Nova Scotia's political leader plays the fiddle - top that, Mike Huckabee. Copyright The Canadian Press From here |

Subject: RE: BS: Premier Macdonald top ten list From: Bee Date: 13 Jan 08 - 09:37 PM If only he'd stuck to fiddling and not gone into politics! Actually, we've had worse premiers, and he's only roused me to the boiling point three or four times so far. |

Subject: RE: BS: Premier Macdonald top ten list From: Beer Date: 14 Jan 08 - 09:42 PM Bee, it don't matter who is in power, there will always be those who agree or disagree. Remember what Dylan once said. "Politics, the right hand of the devil". On the lighter side I"m pleased to see a politician who is just being who he is. A regular Joe. And good for him to do it. As far as Letterman is concerned he can stay the hell where he is. If he doesn't think N.S. is important enough for a visit then forget him. My top ten: 10-clams 9-raw clams 8-steamed clams 7-clams in an omelet 6-deep fried clams 5-clam chowder 4-rabbit stew 3-potte or patte (Spelling not correct. Acadian word I believe. ) 2-Schooner beer 1-Moosehead beer Beer (adrien) |

Subject: RE: BS: Premier Macdonald top ten list From: Bee Date: 15 Jan 08 - 09:35 AM Beer, you left out steamed clams in a buttered hotdog bun! Rodney came to power with a few grudges hangin' off him, Adrien. One was about the Nova Scotia Arts Council, which delivered grants to artists, and had long been seen as favouring Halifax arts to the impoverishment of the rest of the province. This was primarily due to the criteria they had set, which included showing or playing in galleries or other venues, obviously easier to do if you're in the city. NSAC had just completed an extensive research tour through the province, heard and understood the problems, and were engaged in revamping their process. Along comes Rodney and shuts her down. Still don't know where their endowment money went - general coffers, I suspect - and getting an arts grant is harder than ever if you're in the boonies. |
